lunkerboss923 Posted February 13, 2021 Posted February 13, 2021 So, it looks like I'll be the owner of a used Chronarch G. I'm not too pleased with it, as I know this reel is for trout and reds. I should have read the fine print on eBay. When life gives you lemons make lemonade, is what I always say. So in the bass world, how can we use a Chronarch G HG 150? Does anybody use them for bass fishing? A little consolation or suggestions would be appreciated! ? Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted February 13, 2021 Super User Posted February 13, 2021 Are you kidding? The Chronarch G is a great reel. I assume the reason you think it is for trout and reds is because it is saltwater safe? It is basically an MGL with a different spool. 1 Quote
lunkerboss923 Posted February 13, 2021 Author Posted February 13, 2021 Yes, they advertised it all over the internet as a "Saltwater Reel". But hey, I just got outbid! Thank you Lord! I was at Academy yesterday and I'm in love with the Chronarch MGL. I wish they had one for a decent price! Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted February 13, 2021 Super User Posted February 13, 2021 It's saltwater safe, not a saltwater reel. If you like the MGL, you would like the G. I think the spool weighs like 2g more. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted February 14, 2021 Super User Posted February 14, 2021 It's saltwater safe but it's primarily for bass. In short, it's an awesome reel. Quote

I use 4 of them and can't ask for anything more. Smooth, great casting and don't have any worries getting into brackish or salty situations. Brian. Quote
Shimano_1 Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 Yeah pretty sure you're vision of the g is way off base. It being safe to use in salt has nothing to do with what it can be used for. Excellent reel and not much different than the mgl. If it were cheaper than the mgl I'd buy it in a heartbeat Quote
Djenko Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 I think you're confused on the purpose of this reel. It's intended to be a high quality reel for guys like me who live in Florida and pond hop and fish inshore saltwater but don't have all the money to buy a tranx and Curado dc for each purpose, it's able to be used in both but provide the performance of the MGL.
