JLBBass Posted February 13, 2021 Posted February 13, 2021 I was wondering if Bill Norman Fatboy crankbaits are made out of balsa wood. I know if I go to Cabela's website, they only carry the "Professional Edge" fat boy crankbait, and it says it is made out of balsa wood. Are the standard Fatboy crankbaits made out of balsa wood? I'm thinking the only difference between the Professional Edge and regular ones is hardware & paint job.....??? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 13, 2021 Super User Posted February 13, 2021 No, but it's my #1 crankbait! It shines fishing through stumps. 2 Quote

Super User Team9nine Posted February 13, 2021 Super User Posted February 13, 2021 I think all Norman’s are plastic these days. Look closely at the lip where it meets the body and you can tell they are all one piece molds (plastic), including the Professional Edge versions. Believe the Cabela’s/BPS writeup is a typo. 3 Quote

Super User Columbia Craw Posted February 14, 2021 Super User Posted February 14, 2021 It’s Pradco attempting to refresh the branding. The color schemes look to be all old school to me. Regardless, it’s still a good bait. I just upgraded hooks on a bunch of my Normans baits. Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted February 14, 2021 Super User Posted February 14, 2021 I may have screwed up. Nothing new. Pradco did add Gamakatsu hooks and tweaked some colors. Quote
Smells like fish Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 The Fatboy is Normans attempt to match the WEC-1 in plastic. I don’t have any of the Zoom balsa to verify or compare. ? Quote
