billonaboat Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 Hey, Just looking to see what you think about the Shimano Curado split grip casting rods? I'm looking to add a couple rods mainly for texas rigging worms and craws. I'm mainly a finesse fisherman... I have two st croix legend tournament bass spinning rods that I fish a lot of shakeyhead and wacky worms with. I do have one legend tournament in casting that I use for texas rigs. But like I said looking to add a couple more rods for this technique. Considering the curado because I like the price point and the fact that there is a medium heavy extra fast model - I really like extra fast for bottom contact baits. How do you guys like the curado split grip rods? Is there a major drop off between something like a legend tournament and a curado? Quote
Super User FishTank Posted February 11, 2021 Super User Posted February 11, 2021 I have one of the cranking rods and it's not bad but not great. It's no where near the rod the LT is that you have. I would say, in the St. Croix line up, that it's between the Bass X and the Mojo. I do like how it loads and it has a nice quality feel to it. Overall it's not very sensitive but just sensitive enough to do the job for a crankbait rod so for me it's a keeper. If it was me choosing, I would save up a couple more bucks and get a St. Croix Avid. Quote

Sir Shamsalot Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 I don't have the Curados but I mostly rod pull T-rigs with hi-viz braid to leader keeping a bow in the line. The hi-viz will visually inform you of the bite. Here, just about any MH/F will work. BUT... I'm a Croix fan, and If I want to feel and maintain bottom contact I go straight for the Legend X 7'1" MH/EF Finesse Swim Jig rod 1/4-3/4oz. Buy one of these and you'll never look at your LTB's the same. Quote
