I did quite well with bluegill colored swim jigs last year I want to branch out to shad colored swim jigs and trailers. What's your favorite to mimic a shad? I picked up a 6th sense divine swim jig and a V&M pacemaker in shad colors. I've seen some mentions for traditional paddle tail trailers, and then others like rage menace's. Any info would be welcomed. Thanks all.

Swimbait trailer:  Rage Structure Bug and Rage Tail Shellcracker vertically rigged,  Menace and Swimmer are all favorites of mine.

So, you'd use a pearl, or pearl flash in this situation?

My best producer in this category is a 1/2 ounce Siebert Outdoors Swim Jig (white)

with a Structure Bug (white) rigged vertically.

It's not often I'm trying to mimic a shad. But these are some of the shad colors I use when I wanna throw a white/bright swim jig.

The top 2 are Siebert's. The bottom is Greenfish Tackle.

BTW, Siebert's has 2 different swim jigs. Both are good. One is just called "Swim Jig". The other is the "Shot Caller". They're pretty much the same (even same price) except the Shot Caller (which I like a little better) has a more recessed line tie and has a thinner head on it.

The paint jobs on those are awesome. And I agree I'd favor the thinner head with the recessed line tie, looks like it would come through cover better. Thanks for sharing those. I might have to add some soon!

In the shad spawn White jig and Rage swimmer shad colored. If I’m staying close to bottom green pumpkin Rage craw or a Zoom z craw green pumpkin flash. Really had some good luck with that one

If you’re looking for something with a little more thump, take a look at the XZone Swammer. The 4” size is a perfect jig trailer and they make a few baitfish patterns. I like Pearl but there is also Tennessee Shad, Cisco & Bream which look good.

Another thing that sets Siebert's apart from most others is you can get the skirt hand tied (wire). You also have the option for regular rubber band or rattle band. I always go wire (only .30 more).

I'm almost 100% menace grubs on my swim jigs. For shad/baitfish I'd use pearl, pearl flash or bluegill
