I bought a Daiwa Tatula ct for $105.00 two years ago and a SLX last year for $85.00. I try to wait for bps spring sale or Tackle Warehouse Black Friday sale for rod and reel purchases.

You could/can get the Tat CT for $96.99 at Triace Tackle (e-bay store) for the last 5 or 6 months.

Bass Pro prices are so high that the sale prices brings the stuff down to just about where you can get them most other places all of the time.

^ What he said.

90% of what they're gonna put on sale is their own label stuff. The rest, the 'sale price' will just bring it down to what you can get it for someplace else without a sale now.

Only things I get from Cabelas/BPS anymore are the BPS-370 boxes - I like them better than the Plano-3700s.

The only thing I get from BPS is their Tender Tubes and I'm working on substitutes

for them.

I’m definitely not going to argue that point, but I usually wind up with bps gift cards so I figure why not?

I’m all about shopping around for the best price/bargain. Bought a Daiwa Tatula type R on clearance late last year for $100.00 can’t wait to use it this year. Same reel as my Cabelas Arachnid I bought several years ago when they were clearing them out for $99.99.

Again with gift cards I might as well get some lures at least. Also grabbed a bps panfish elite rod last year which I’m pleased with. I’m certainly not a bps fanboy by any means and certainly don’t like corporate monopolies on anything. I used to buy Cabelas house brand hunting boots for work as a carpenter now truck driver but since bps took over Cabelas doesn’t receive much of my business.

The only thing I get from BPS is the bulk bags of the Stik-Os. I don't toss Senko-baits much anymore so even this is not enough to draw me in anymore.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not attacking you for shopping at bass pro, I buy things there too from time to time. It's just that their prices are so high. I would say the same about Tackle Warehouse I guess.

I’m not one who feels attacked by any member on this site? I was blessed with thick skin from growing up with my older brother and his friends and a father who loved the ancient art of debating?. As I’ve stated before I’m all about patiently waiting for the right price on my gear.

I've been holding a BPS gift card since last Father's Day, haven't found a way to spend it and not feel cheated even with 'free' money. I do shop there once a year during the spring sale as they usually pick a few lures and price them as a loss leader and I'm more than willing to do my part to help!

I honestly do not remember the last time I bought anything from either BPS or Cabelas. Been several years.

It is indeed March 11th thru the 31st (https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/fall-and-spring-classics).

They typically start it on a Thursday, they did last year on the 12th.  I remember last year vividly, I went into the store when it opened and a few hours later when I exited, I got in the truck, turned on the radio and found out the entire world was shutting down...

I do enjoy BPS, however the sale is not as good as it has been in the past.  The rod/reel trade in can lead to a good deal and sometimes electronics can be reduced,

but you really have to go into the store to find some discounts that aren't advertised.

As for pricing, BPS has gone out of their way to claim they will not be undersold, so while their prices may not be the lowest to begin with, you can take a few minutes and get them to match pricing found elsewhere (https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/pricematch)

I will say their price match is great. I've used that quite a bit including for the purchase of a couple of Curado K's with BPS gift cards two years ago.

I'm hoping they put that Pro Qualifier 2 reel on sale for $50 again. I'd like to pick up a couple of more.

Thanks! My dad got the flyer in the mail today but mine hasn't came. Wanted to see what all the sales were.

What's an appropriate amount of my bank account that can be drained for this sale? Asking for my  fiancée. ?

Anyone go? I was curious if Shimano and Daiwa are taking part in the reel trade in this year.

Even if they are, better sales can be had ...

All rods & reels they carry in store are eligible for trade in. Thing is they may not carry the model you’re looking for.

Normally true but between rewards and a discount code they sent me I have about $60 off before the trade in.

Your right the reels I was looking to buy are not in stock at the nearest store, so I added another SLX reel online.

I traded in a 30 year old reel toward a new Daiwa reel. The Daiwa wasn’t on sale, but I got the trade in credit.

I’m not as fortunate as some guys here to have Acadamy and Gander and sportsman’s warehouse near me. But the price match goes both ways. Play those other stores with the Bass Pro Shops Ads. I think you guys are getting the best deal going price shopping the way you are.
