Let’s chat.

This particular rod intrigues me as it’s fairly short (7’) for a rod that claims up to 4 oz. baits. But it also claims extreme sensitivity that I would like in a dedicated flipping, punching, and pitching rod. Then I read others talk about a moderate action that maybe I wouldn’t like while pitching/punching 1.5oz baits.

So if any owners out there wouldn’t mind telling me what you use your TB for, I’d appreciate it.

Not all at one time, lol.

I went ahead and ordered one. Should be here this week. I’ll report back on what I think. Since so many seem to be interested. Ha.

Description makes it seem like my 72H Huyga.

Was just about to post about the 72H.  It proves that MB can make a very good rod with similar specs to the Tequila Baccarac, so it's a safe bet that it's not going to be a total dog.

Description makes it seem like my 72H Huyga.  Thats an excellent big moving bait XH rod and frog rod for heavier frogs.  Pitching and bottom contact?  It will work but there are dedicated bottom contact MB rods out there.  The Tackle Tour forum is the best place to ask MB rod questions.  Lot of experience with the rods over there.

So I ultimately talked to Gary at TTT about it.

I searched TT and all I could really find was folks that used them as a frog rod and then sold them, ha.

Anyways, after talking to Gary, he assured me that the TB is a particularly special rod with a lot of versatility. It’s this versatility that intrigues me the most.

I don’t see myself using this as a swimbait or frog rod. I see it as a rod capable of supporting a wide range of bait weights in applications where sensitivity matters.

This is my issue I have with normal dedicated XH type rods. The rods I use for punching 1.5 - 2 oz weights don’t feel right to me if I go to a 0.5 - 0.75 oz bottom contact bait. Even worse if want to tie on a jig and cast it around wood cover or ledge fish.

If this rod can truly perform from 0.5 - 4 oz like the blank suggests, I’m going to be extremely impressed. Gary tells me it will so we’ll see.

If it is anything like the Huyga 72H then it'll be a gem.  Love mine from anything ranging to 1/2 oz and up spinnerbaits, swim jigs, chatterbaits, buzzbaits, bigger frogs, beast hook paddletails, mag top waters, and actual big baits up to 3 oz.  The 4 oz upper limit is a little optimistic but I almost never push a rod to the limit and move up a rod instead.

This is exactly what I was hoping to hear.

Hoping to get on the water this weekend but the weather is not looking good.

I use mine as a frog rod. Short, super powerful and well balanced. Ensures that I my wrist is not getting tired after 4h of straight frogging.

Would this rod work for swimbaits. I have a Dozn 3.6 oz that I would like to through on this rod. (If i can find one used) I have a Dobyns rod that I am using right now but it is almost 8ft long and I fish our of kayak.

This rod is uniquely versatile, one of the main reasons why I've kept the rod in my arsenal as well the rod has plenty of backbone. It's unique in the sense of being a regular action rod that handles big baits well and by well I mean within it's range, I would feel very comfortable tossing 4oz plugs on this rod. Gary has a wealth of knowledge regarding Megabass rods and should not be ignored.

Yes, it would work well for that. If you're looking for a cheaper model take a look at the World Valkyrie travel rods from Megabass, The Tackle Trap has them along with The Hook-Up Tackle. A bit longer, but save you some cash unless you're not afraid of buying a used rod.

I have this rod and love it, but a 3.6oz bait will feel overloaded.  Don't recommend.  3oz seems to be my comfort limit.

This rod will throw a 6" and 8" Magdraft, S Waver 168 and 200, A Rigs, 8 and 10XDs, 1.5oz Jackhammers, 3/4oz jigs, 1oz bullet weighted Ol Monster. This rod is plenty sensitive it's not the perfect rod, but it's the most complete do everything pretty dang good. Don't worry about all the b/s you hear from persnickety anglers that have 48 rods used for one technique that are probably collecting dust. Unless you have a bass boat with deep rod lockers, who cares that the rod is slightly moderate. It has a soft tip and bends all the way until the 4th guide and from there it's all backbone.

If you were stranded and had one rod that you could throw your entire tacklebox at and catch fish, this is your rod. It does everything.
