The weight of soft plastic has little to do with Rate OFall. What matters is specific gravity is heavier then water so it sinks in lieu of floating or suspending.

Most soft plastics suspend in water unless loaded with salt like a Senko.

Nobody mentioned ROF. The OP is worried about total lure weight as it relates to a "generic" rod rating weight. IMO, it matters very little, but I try not to over think things.

The op mentioned .81oz total jig and trailer weight was the higher strike ratio weight. To me that isn’t relative it’s profile, movement and ROF that triggers strikes from bass. Gross weight isn’r A factor other then casting performance.

Which is EXACTLY what he is asking about.

It doesn’t change the ROF of the trailer if it weighs .3 oz or 3 lbs if the plastic floats on the water or suspends in the water. ROF is affected by density heavier then water,  displacement characteristics, flappers to increase resistance or air trapped in physical shapes.

The OP states his most successful over weight was .81 oz. .5 oz jig with .31 floating trailer or 1 oz floating trailer weighs .5 oz in water.

What are you even talking about??? The OP (that means the person who started the thread) was asking about the weight because he was concerned the total weight would be too heavy for his rod to handle. The OP (once again, the person who started the thread) never even mentioned the .81 oz, someone else did. The original question had NOTHING to do with ROF. I know you are much smarter than everyone else here and you feel the need to give us examples of how smart you are, but in this particular thread it is not needed.

You are right I get mixed up when using my IPhone, difficult to go back and read the entire threads.

If you want to dress me down try PM. All I am trying to do is stay entertained and keep my feeble overstressed  mind occupied by meaningless replies.

I apologize, I know an easy way to avoid this in the future.

Yes for anyone not sure of my question,  I'm curious of weight because they will be used on an Alabama Rig, which weighs a decent amount, add jig heads amd I'm at over an ounce. I'm throwing it on a 7'2 H/F SLX rod but dont want to over do it or damage anything. So I am trying to keep weight minimal, but have good swimbaits on it. I can rubn all five hooks in my state so no dummy rigs. The weight of a Zako compared to a Swimming Fluke is quite a bit just from holding them. So if using Zakos push me over 2.5-3 oz I may want to consider a different rod for it.

.6 repeating is The Neighbor of the Beast. Not sure why that's so funny to me, but it is. Excellent word play!

I really like this idea. Ive wondered about going weightless on a few of them and weights on the bottom to keep it balanced. Having issues getting it to run without tilting to the side. I currently have Electric Shad Zakos and Green Pumpkin Rage Swimmers so i think that combo would match pretty nicely.

This is on a Flash Mob Jr if that makes any difference.

I fish the Flash Mob, too.

So the four outside wires, the LMS or equivalent jointed plastic and a rage swimmer in the middle rage rigged. I'll have to see if I have the 3.75" rages because they seem short from last time I remember using one.

Use whatever size you have.

Even if its shorter than the outside ones? I thought the middle one that the wire is a bit further back from the outsides was supposed to have the biggest lure? I'm an A Rig newb.

It’s common for the long wire to have a different size or lure then the other 4 wires, but all 5 are often the same.

A friend of mine uses a 6” flutter spoon in the center.

That's really interesting. Does it work for him?

spoons for baits and blades for dummies sans plastics will work, just have to keep in mind that they need to not interfere or tangle with each other when casting . There is a guide around here that makes trolling umbrellas out of real spoons. He has a model with the spoon part and another with the handles. Catches a lot of striped bass with them, but then they are the dumbest thing that swims®, not smart, like Fredo and LMB..... :)
