Super User roadwarrior Posted February 8, 2021 Super User Posted February 8, 2021 Hmm... The most popular lure/ bait in the world; instrumental in winning more club tournaments than all other lures combined; successful everywhere through- out the year. Probably don't need it when there are "too many other productive lures". Quote

Probably don't need it when there are "too many other productive lures". Been managing to catch plenty of bass over the past decade on some highly pressured lakes, without throwing a Senko. So yeah, it's pretty safe to say I don't need them. If they work for you, rock on. 2 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 8, 2021 Super User Posted February 8, 2021 Well, you are in good company. Big O told me he has never fished a Senko. None of my regular fishing buddies fish them or have ever bought a Fat Ika. I don't get it, but it works for them, too. 1 Quote
ironbjorn Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Pitching Senkos along weed lines is what really started it all for me. I couldn't imagine not fishing them. Quote
Junk Fisherman Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Whopper Plopper (never thrown one; don't own any) Megabass Vision 110 (don't own any) Quote
dman Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Chatterbait or Crankbait (lipless cranks, yes), and I mean not even bites! I just cant figure those 2 out. I dedicate a bit of time each year to try and get something going with them. I've probably at least caught Pickerel on the crank but never even a bite of any kind on a Chatterbait. Tried finessey and aggressive trailers, straight retrieve, stop and go, herky jerky, bumpin into anything i can find, nothin - lol Quote
softwateronly Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 Haven't caught bass on or even fished: -deep cranks or squarebills -a rig -swim jigs I really hope to have fixed this by April 1st. A-Jay you have to spend some time with those glides, there's almost nothing better than watching a follower turn into an eater. Middle of the day, on a sunny day, has been my most productive timeframe.... Quote

Besides in rocks I dont use a squarebill or any crank besides a lipless. If there are rocks first thing in tying on is a squarebill. Chatterbait I have luck fishing around cover. Bring it over weeds or grass, along weed lines, next to timber, and they come out and smack it. Thats the biggest thing ive learned is where and when to use certain lures. 1 Quote
kayaking_kev Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 - Got my wife to fish. - Fished from a boat, besides a kayak. - Caught a fish outside the State of Ohio. - Broke a rod on hook set or lifting a fish. - Got into a fight or argument while fishing. - Caught a Largemouth on a Frog. - Fished an A-Rig, Megabass Vision (any version), and I'm sure lots of other baits. - Fished a bait over $20. - Caught a fish on a jackhammer, buzzbait, spoon, glide bait, and I'm sure plenty of others. No idea how to fish a glide but that's what this place is for! Quote
Super User Bird Posted February 14, 2021 Super User Posted February 14, 2021 If I even look at a Chatterbait or say the word " Chatterbait "...... i won't catch a fish all day so imagine what happens when I tie one on. BUT, on days that I just want to enjoy the piece and serenity of a majestic day and not be disturbed by the sound of a bass tail dancing across the water or the pungent odor of fish on my hands.....I'll keep one on the boat for those special days. 2 2 Quote

It is my confidence swim bait. They are around $20. I have swim baits that cost triple that but I still have more confidence in the Spro. Quote
BassinCNY Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 I was watching a video and realized that never have I ever used a spinnerbait with painted blades. I've never felt the need but maybe I should try it. 1 Quote

Chonch12 Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 Jerkbait, Frog, & Jointed Swim Bait for me I rarely throw top water and when I do its usually a WP. Tried some frog and rats, but no luck As for Jerkbait, got a few last year at the end of the season from a friend and didn't get to throw them much. This upcoming season I am going to try and focus on them along with Crankbaits. Its not a never, but only caught 1 fish on a Crank. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted February 19, 2021 Super User Posted February 19, 2021 Swim Senko. That's not totally true, though. I did catch fish with them after I bit the swimming tail off, so not all was lost. Quote

Those work better in southern swamps, I’ve caught a lot down in s Alabama with them, maybe 2-3 on the home waters Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 19, 2021 Super User Posted February 19, 2021 Makes for a great trailer on a swim jig. Quote
