Luke Barnes Posted February 6, 2021 Author Posted February 6, 2021 Would be cool if we could make a sticky post and title it, Now I Have, and see if people change these this year. I have intentions on throwing a carolina rig, but ive got a hard jerkbait tied on to change never having caught with it. I had a wacky tied on a spinning setup dedicated to catching a fish on it but it got retied for a drop shot being cold and all that. Quote

Super User Hammer 4 Posted February 7, 2021 Super User Posted February 7, 2021 For all of youz guys that never caught a fish on Glide baits, you listening A-Jay, I'll gladly take them off your hands. Same goes for all spinnerbaits, send em my way, I'll make good use of these 2 types of baits Quote

I bank fish ponds 99% of the time so I have a feeling it would be a bit overkill. But...... I doubt the fish in the ponds have seen a big ol glide bait before. Quote

BBuck Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 never had luck on a Buzz bait, jerk bait, or banjo minnow! Quote
SmallieKing7 Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 Never seem to have any luck on a Whopper Plopper or Buzz bait. Quote

I have never, ever, caught a bass dropshotting. Waaaay too boring for me to bother with. I've never tried one. Does that count? 16 hours ago, DitchPanda said: Whopper plopper...to be fair I finally got one last year and only threw it a few times. I havent caught much on a drop shot....I'd much rather throw a Ned. I don't own one of those either, never have. Pretty sure I'll fix both of those this year. I learned long ago that owning lures I don't catch fish on just distracts me from catching fish. My current tackle selection is half what it once was.. I am not a fan of slow finesse fishing in general. Have the stuff to rig a drop shot, just never felt like it. Considering I have a couple young ones to teach this year I imagine numbers will trump size and I will change that up. And MNFisher, get on that T-rig. Where you fish that should be money. 1 Quote

I watched a video with Mike Bucca and KVD and KVD said the key is to wake them right at the surface like a fleeing shad. So if you do give them a go maybe give that a try. Quote

Super User Ratherbfishing Posted February 7, 2021 Super User Posted February 7, 2021 Never have I ever...caught a bass on a Carolina rig. I think it's the only method I have not succeeded at. Will have to remedy that this coming year. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted February 7, 2021 Super User Posted February 7, 2021 Caught a bass on a Whopper Plopper. I don't even own one. Quote
ThatZX14Fella Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 Technically, I've only ever caught bass on a T-Rig, spinnerbait, and lipless crankbait. I don't count the private pond I go to, because I'm the only one allowed to fish it. I'm not a very good fisherman on the river, and I've only caught a handful of bass out of public waters. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 7, 2021 Super User Posted February 7, 2021 Well, the fishing is slow in my pool, but after dark and a few brewskis, I get some bites. 1 Quote

Ive got a cheap jointed BPS brand swimbait ive struck out on but got a super cheapey multi joint swimbait off Wish and caught some studs on it! Quote
Ogandrews Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 It’s funny reading this because so many of my go to techniques are listed here, couldn’t imagine smallmouth fishing without a jerkbait ned or dropshot. I don’t mean any offense by saying this, but what kind of bass fisherman can’t catch a fish on a ned or t rig? Such effective and easy to fish baits. There really aren’t any techniques that I haven’t caught fish with but if there was one that always seems to not work as well as I think it will is a fluke. I’ve definitely caught fish with them, but i always seem to do better with something else. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 8, 2021 Global Moderator Posted February 8, 2021 I think a flutter spoon is the only bait I've spent any time with that hasn't been productive for me. Jigging spoon, great producer, flutter spoon, nadda. Quote
Stasher1 Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Brace yourselves... Senko Tried them a few times 10-12 years ago with no luck and haven't touched them since. Too many other productive lures to bother with them, tbh. Quote
