Super User DitchPanda Posted February 6, 2021 Super User Posted February 6, 2021 So everybody has seen the millions of variants of whites, shads, black blues ,browns and green pumpkins. But what about those more unique skirts? The past few years the fire craw color has come on like crazy for chatterbaits. Two patterns that I'm intrigued with that don't get alot of mention is spring\hites craw...kinda of a half green pumpkin half red with maybe a few strands of black thrown in. The other which I'm most interested in is Cajun crush\ Mardi gras which is predominantly blue with some pink, purple and a little black mixed in. Its a wild looking color that is unlike anything else I've seen. Anybody throwing either of these two? Do you have any other strange color patterns you make? 1 Quote

kdubracing Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 I made a couple of jigs in Black Widow, red and black, this winter. I'm interested to see if they work. 1 Quote
Jaderose Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 I suspect THIS will qualify. I have another one just like it black. The inspiration for this is a Chrome/Blue and Chrome/Black Rat-L-Trap. Custom made. My thought was to use this on a shallow flat I fish occasionally on Bluebird days. Guess what? It works. I put a white twin tail grub on them tipped with JJ's Red. 7 Quote

Super User WRB Posted February 6, 2021 Super User Posted February 6, 2021 Black & yellow was followed by blue & yellow called Bluegill, still and good spinnerbait color. Tom 3 Quote

Finessegenics Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 For spinnerbaits, I think a fire tiger sort of pattern is underrated. Some combination of chartreuse, lime and orange. It works well for me and fire tiger crankbaits are popular so I’m surprised not to see more fire tiger spinnerbaits out there. This skirt here is a little chewed up but I’ve caught dozens on this exact spinnerbait. 2 Quote

I also catch fish on a skirt made from brown/copper glitter, pumpkin/green glitter and orange. I use this on a jig and a spinnerbait. 1 Quote

Michigander Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 I've got a jig skirt that's black and that rainbow hologram reflective silicone. Fun to throw in muddy water on bright days. I also tie ones that just have a couple strands of a bunch of different tabs, usually all the leftovers. They look stupid but they catch a lot of bass. I figure if it has all the colors in it, it's guaranteed to have a bit of whatever color they are keying in on. 3 Quote

That had to create a buzz with that color. If he woulda won using another new color that one woulda been in high demand too Quote

Super User Teal Posted February 6, 2021 Super User Posted February 6, 2021 I pretty much stick to the basics. However black and red and occochobee craw patterns are underrated. Plain black doesnt get enough attention either Not a color but I don't believe living rubber gets alot of love.... very under rated. Quote

Tom Down here it was black-n-yellow & then black-n-white. Seen my dad caught three 7# bass back to back on a red skirted Snagless Sally with a purple chunk. I won a tournament on a pink & chartreuse spinnerbait. Black-n-Yellow is the only one I occasionally throw. Edited February 6, 2021 by Catt Operator Error Quote

Logan S Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 For me, solid orange skirts on chatters and spinnerbaits to mimic the goldfish in the Potomac grassbeds during the summer. Not something I do a lot, but I'll throw it for a dozen casts or so if I've worked a good stretch of grass without a bite or on days when tons of other boats are out throwing the normal stuff. Every now and then I'll catch a fish or two on it that I don't think I would have otherwise. Quote
