I don't know where to post this, I figured equipment would be the best place. Anyway, I was told about the JDM website Asian Portal. I saw what great deals they had on reels, so I bought one. It has been 4 days and I still haven't got any confirmation other than they got my money. On their website some of the features/links are misspelled. Such as they are spelling menu (manu). Oh and the last time I visited their website was 06/02/2021. We are barely done with January.

I'm not sure what I got myself into, but I sure regret this whim of getting a cool Shimano Scorpion MGL.

Has anyone had any similar experiences with these guys? There is no customer service line to call. I've left half a dozen emails and no response.

Any help on the matter would be appreciated.

4 days and you are panicking?  You Americans are spoiled.

I have ordered stuff from the the US and have not heard anything for 2 weeks but it did arrive.

As for spelling, English is not their first language.  English is my first language and I'm terrible at spelling.

Ive heard of many things being ordered from there. It takes 2 weeks to get across country (US) for some of my rod parts, I would not expect a fast package from Japan.

I have ordered from them 3 times with no issues and it takes a week or two to get stuff.  If memory serves me right, they are not near a major international shipping depot for US shipments.  They travel to the shipping location they use and only go once or twice a week.  Once it's processed, it takes a about 4-6 business days from Japan.

I've bought so much with them, they've quit sending me e-mail notifications or even order confirmations - if you have a log-in there, can check order status on your account page.

The only time I get an e-mail from them is when they didn't have stock and issued a refund.

I just get the Fed-Ex tracking notification when they send it out (I have a Fed-Ex log-in, too).

Usually  takes them a few days to get off the mark, but a very reliable vendor, and can't argue with $28 worth of Fed-Ex Express gratis on a $100 order, especially when their prices are already discounted.

Fed-Ex, btw, is flying nonstop from Shennin-Shi to Memphis, now, and both DHL and Fed-Ex have delivered orders to me in as few as 40 hours.

Just checked my last AP order - Thursday, 1/21

Shipped on Monday 1/25 pm (Mon 2 am here)

Delivered on Wed 1/27 am

Ive ordered from them as well with zero issues.

Some of these JDM sites I’ve received the item and used it only to get a notice the next day that the item had shipped lol.

I wouldn’t swear it. You should be receiving something shortly.

Just got my shipping notification from them for my Scorp yesterday.  I'm not worried.  You should be fine too.

06/02/21 is correct. It's the next day in Japan....02/06/21...

ok, now it's starting to make sense. I ordered on Wednesday at around 9pm. So it was Thursday for them and today was Friday so Saturday for them. I most likely will hear nothing until Monday at very latest, which would be their Tuesday and by Wednesday I should have it by the Japanese Thursday.

The U.S. military and the rest of the world put the date first, not the month.  So 6/2/2021 would be Feb 6. 2021.  You also have to realize that they are on the other side of the IDL so its the 6th there as I'm writing this.  You may see words misspelled or descriptions that don't make total sense.  Its most likely just issues with translation.

As long as you didn't misspell the website it should be legit.  Honestly Ive never ordered from AP so I have no experience with them, but there are loads of people who have have dealt with them and everything has gone well.  Ive gone through JLS and Digitaka, both of them were easy to get a hold of, polite and accommodating.

If you feel like you dont want to take a chance contact your credit card company or bank and go from there.  I wouldn't worry too much, good luck.

USPS claims there are mail delays due to covid. I've also noticed mail delays myself.

They are extremely legitimate, I've ordered from them quite a few times, unless you accidentally went to a mirrored site.

But even then your only out $160 bucks, not a big deal by any means, just make sure it's the actual site next time.

LOL! Maybe not to you, but I could think of a half a dozen things I could do with $160.

Well to put it in perspective if you were scammed, but I don't think you were if you purchased off the real site, most people are scammed for a lot more than $160 so it's not really that bad imo.

I will say that a couple times of the times I purchased items from them, I never received a shipping confirmation or tracking, I just received the items in the mail about 2 weeks later from the original purchase date.

I bought a reel from them in the fall, no issues at all. Would buy again. You have to remember the whole world is struggling with the pandemic and it effects staffing levels and shipping. I am sure you will be happy with your new reel. I am quite positive you did not get scammed.

Asian portal doesn't send you anything. Your product will show up within a few days, approximately half the time tacklewarehouse takes. Calm down, you'll get it.

Consider they're too busy packing and shipping good deals to send out e-mails.

Besides, google-beta-translate just doesn't work that well on Japanese.

They do have the single-toughest website to navigate, though Plat's dressy website takes even longer to load from here.

If you want to talk to someone, Jun at JapanTackle has great English.

I wouldn't worry yet, I've bought a Metanium MGL and SLX MGL 70 from there and both arrived rather quickly. For what's it worth, whenever I place an order from NFC, I never get anything until it has shipped.

@lunkerboss923

I've ordered from JLS and they advised me that due to Covid it's possible some delays even via FedEx, now they don't ship via Japan post since order can take as long as 3 weeks to leave the country.

Never ordered from AP but I suggest to you to check your bank account and check the details of  transaction you made is correct.

I used PayPal and JLS charged the amount when order was shipped.

I was scammed buying  from the most  "legit" and reputable US site, ...so, sometimes s#%t happens.

$160 for me it's pretty much so I hope  you can received what you paid for.

If it's my first purchase from a new site I'll usually make an order in the 30-40$ range just to  test the water.

There's a certain game and patience that is required when purchasing online.  Know how the game is played or shop locally.

Personally, I hate waiting for shipments.  8-10 days for in country is common here, 2-3 weeks for US stuff (assuming customs don't let it sit for a month), 1-6 months for overseas.  None of this is the vendor's fault as the package is always delay by Canada Post or customs.  During the height of the pandemic customs would take their sweet time of 30+ days to process a package.  That is not the vendor or the shipping agency's fault.

I know the game before the transaction.  Most of the time I can't stomach the game so I go to my local tackle shop and purchase from there.  Not only do I get to see the merchandise before purchasing and get merchandise right away, I'm supporting local too.
