In fact, we just hit peak daily rate change -what I came to call the first day of spring at this latitude. I just think back to the old days and what we call 'start of summer/winter' was called 'mid-summer/mid-winter' because of sun placement against the background stars. Based on that, beginning of February was considered the start of spring, beginning of May the start of summer in olden times. So really, we're a week into the spring season for those of us with a grounding in ancient practices. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 10, 2021 Super User Posted February 10, 2021 It feels like the dead of winter in Tennessee. 1/2" of ice tonight and 11* this weekend. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted February 11, 2021 Super User Posted February 11, 2021 The weathermen get giddy when "everyone's going to die!" So far the storm has been a bust. Trees and viaducts have some icing, but the ground is too warm for accumulation. The rain ends by noon with clearing. No doubt, it's still going to get bitter cold, but the 'crisis' is overblown. 1 Quote
