3.5? 4? I want to buy some keitechs soon but I don't know what's a good all around size. I fish ponds and small lakes.

Also what would a good jighead hook size be for that 3.5 to 4inch range?

A good middle ground is a 3.8” paired with a dirty jigs Matt Allen finesse swimbait head.

Where I live there’s 800 bazillion tiny shad so 2.5 inch on 1/8oz head is what I throw. 20 inch smallmouth can’t get enough of them

3.8 gets most of the play in my boat.  Keitechs or rage swimmers don't seem to matter much

What colors would you recommend for the keitechs?

If I’m just throwing a keitech by itself for largemouth I throw anywhere from 2.8-6.8 but i throw the 4.8 the most, sometimes I’ll drop down to a 4.3 or 3.8 if it’s tough but even when it’s bad conditions they still eat the 4.8. The 4.8 is a pretty small bait once you start comparing it to baitfish, can’t tell you how many 6-8” smallmouth I have caught on a 4.8 keitech, also caught multiple pike over 40” on that same 4.8. If I’m fishing grass I’m usually throwing it on an owner beast 4/0 1/8th oz, sometimes I’ll go to 1/4 if it’s deeper. If I’m fishing rocks or more open water I’ll throw it on the dirty jigs Matt Allen head anywhere from 1/8 to 1/2oz. Another great head is the true bass screw lock head.

I throw electric shad in the rage swimmers and blue/chartreuse, pro blue pearl and sexy shad in keitechs

3.75 (Rage Swimmer or Little EZ) or 3.8 (Keitech SIF or BPS Speed Shad) is a universal size for me.  Works by itself or as a trailer.

Buckeye Lures J-Will Swimbait Heads (also available in a weedless version) 1/8 or 1/4oz fits well and casts a mile.  These baits have some weight to them by themselves.

When I need to downsize I go to the 4" (yes, that's right) in the Keitech Easy Shiner and the 1/8oz head.

Baits 3.5 to 4" are what I use 90% of the time with the Keitech 3.8 being the most used. As for colors they make them in so many just pick some that look good to you.

Thank you! Also that's cool he mentioned Bass resource and @SteezyFishing

I like the idea of it. Seems like it would mimic a craw walking on its legs along the bottom pretty nicely.

i fished my senkos rigged using the keel weighted hook and works fantastic. Also put a big berkley grass pig on the keel hook and caught bass pulling it through the weeds.
