does anybody have top views of a Curado K and Scorpio MGL side by side? Top views and side views. I want to get an idea of the size differences, if any. I was told that the frame of the Scorpion was the same as a Curado K, the only difference was the MGL Spool.

Agreed, sometimes I use to swap the spools between the 2 just for fun. Identical reels.

kind of on the same subject, but will an SLX MGL Spool fit an SLX XT? The frames look almost identical.

I'm trying to achieve a poor man's Bantam.

You won't accomplish that. Part of what makes the Bantam is the solid core body. There is no replicating that unless you get the Met 20.

I feel like I remember the mgl frame to be a little smaller, but I could be wrong. I did have both reels but not at the same time. If your local tackle shop has both see if you can try swapping the spools to find out.

No MM gear.  No aluminum side plate.  The reel you want is the Shimano Engetsu (then scorpion 70 based one not the plastic Casitas thing).  Scorpion 70.  Aluminum handle side plate.  Brass micro module gears.  Shallow spool.

Baitfinesse is spot on.The engetsu is a great reel, I use the 5:8 pg for cranking and love it. I switched out the shallow spool with a curado 70 spool which has greater line capacity.
