What reel speed would be optimal for this rod? I currently have a revo winch 5.4:1 and I’m starting to think it’s on the slow side for most lures the shines with. What gear ratio would fit this rod the best?

I personally used a 6.3.1 for my DC 705cb and a 5.4.1 for rods meant for deep divers. This is due to the most popular feedback that I received when I acquired about the same subject. It seems to work good based from my limited experience, compared to some veterans of the sport on here.

My 705CB has a 6.3:1 on it. It's worked just fine for everything from lipless to DT-10...this year see how it works on the DT-16 and DT-20.

I use the 705 CB for Jerkbaits and mid range cranks. I think you are good with the winch for cranks, for jerkbaits I would go up to a 6 or 7 gear ratio.

Thanks all for the input. Might try to find 6.xx daiwa elite for the 705cb and keep the winch for a deep diving rod.

what rod recommendations for bigger cranks the 705cb can’t handle.  Thanks again everyone, happy fishing!!

I've paired mine with a Tatula TW 100 in 6.3:1 and the biggest crankbaits I throw are 6XD, MB deep x300 and deep six, for me it's almost the limit with the 705CB.

I'm a Dobyns fan for power fishing, so for bigger baits I should say Champion XP 805 (up to 1oz and 1/2) and the XP 806 up to 2oz

I like the Champion CB 805 and 806 for larger cranks as well.
