Big-Bass Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 I was on the big auction site and saw two NIB from a sporting goods store in NJ that were listed at $119 shipped each. They are sold out now but was that a decent price for this generation reel? Never put much thought into what these older reels are going for now. I had a Gen 1 STX, SC, and Premier but never used a 3 and the 4 felt not so comfortable in my hand. I collect/use Daiwa, Shimano, and Abu reels and I know many of the classic models go for a good amount. Thanks for the help on the random question while we get lambasted with 1-2 feet of snow here in the northeast. Best wishes on the water! Quote
DomQ Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 Correct me if I'm wrong but the revo premier 2 is based on the gen 4 body style. If its the same one then I've worked on one before and always liked the feel of it. Was nice and smooth and tiny in the hands. It was owned by a buddy of mine and he couldn't ever get it really dialed in no matter what he did. Quote

The 3 and 4 are more compact but feel wider to me if that makes sense. I believe the 1 and 2 had an aluminum frame and side plates too. Quote

I remember reading that many thought the Gen 2 Premier was the best reel in its class. OP, AFAIC $119 for a $250 (I think) NIB Gen 2 Premier was a great price. I wouldn't have thought twice about that deal. Quote

I have a Gen 1 Premier. Magnetic only brake. Gen 2 is dual brake. Said to handle a wide range of lures. EDIT: Meaning it will handle fairly light lures. Don't remember how light. Quote

Gen 1 premier came out in about in about 2006/2007 I think. This is the Gen 2 I am talking about: Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 Good buy if you like the platform Quote
Big-Bass Posted February 6, 2021 Author Posted February 6, 2021 Both of the Gen 2 Premiers arrived today NIB. They are really, really, nice. 6.4:1 so a nice all around ratio and I got the last two they had. They didn't have any in any other ratio but for $119 a reel I figured what the heck. Best wishes on the water. 1 Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted February 7, 2021 Super User Posted February 7, 2021 Gen 2 Premier... best of the Revos before or after. If they are lefty and you find you don't like them, the two I fish today may need friends. oe Quote

Glad a grabbed them as they were just listed and I debated quickly but bought then both thinking what the heck. Quote
zell_pop1 Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 I bet they are similar to the Pflueger reels from 2011-14 that I had. Casts light lures very well, better reels than what Pure Fishing has these days. Quote
