My wife and I had an SUV on order since February and she has been saying for months that it was going to arrive when I was gone for 9 days deer hunting. She predicted that one accurately. The SUV had to wait a few days... 1 Quote

First my lease isn't up until Feb 24. "We better Order you one early, just in case" Did it last time, worked out OK. So we did. Then there's a strike, no clue what the deal is there. Next the darn thing shows up 5 months early (when does that ever happen?) OK, Cool. Maybe I can get this all done before the air temps bottom out into the minus numbers for a change. Ordered accessories & tires, everything's good. Even completed all the paper work in advance, just need to sign on the dotted line. Except . . . . . I need The Man to make it all go. Hope he get's a giant buck and comes back early ! Either way, should be a pretty sweet rig. A-Jay 2 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted November 27, 2023 Author Super User Posted November 27, 2023 I've got an appointment tomorrow morning to 'visit' the new rig. Also be dropping off the set of new Cooper AT3's for a proper mount/balance on said rig. Change of ownership should take place in the next few days. But for now, I'm heading out to clear the 10 inches of sloppy wet snow we got here last night & this morning. Guess we'll be getting an actual winter after all. Good Times . . . A-Jay 5 1 1 Quote

Early snow here usually isn't a very good sign. #mountainsonthe way A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted November 30, 2023 Author Super User Posted November 30, 2023 Just dropped off the 2021 rig at the dealer for the topper switch and should be signing on the dotted line tomorrow afternoon. Exterior of the 2024 is just about identical to the the rig I just turned in. The interior however, especially the dash & 'info screen' is larger & quite different. More to follow. A-Jay 4 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted December 1, 2023 Author Super User Posted December 1, 2023 Plan finally came together today, but it wasn't without some challenges. While the exterior is very close to the 2021 model, the updated interior creature comforts of this 2024 deal are seriously next level ! More pics tomorrow. Loving the Cooper AT3's so far too. Super User J._Bricker Posted December 1, 2023 Super User Posted December 1, 2023 Beautiful ride @A-Jay and it doesn’t look like a spec of slush is on her from the drive home from the dealership! Looking forward to seeing the interior and your thoughts. Again, congrats as you and Lynn deserve to arrive in style with or without the Pro-V. 1 Quote

Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted December 2, 2023 Global Moderator Posted December 2, 2023 My contractor has a 2024 GMC Denali 3500 with the diesel and that is one sweet ride! He got one in white and his brother got the grey. I’ll be taking it for a ride next week and start the dreaming. 😁 Congrats on the new truck! 1 Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted December 2, 2023 Super User Posted December 2, 2023 Beautiful truck! Looks just a tad different than our '04 Sierra 😆 1 Quote
RipzLipz Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 Enjoy the exhaust - I helped design some of the components on this generation (T1) & the next (T1-2 or T2 for short) which should be somewhere around 2027. Last I saw the 3D exterior of T2 it wasn’t anything exciting so be prepared to be unimpressed a bit. V8s will be slightly larger volumes but just bored out 5.3 & 6.2 liters (IIRC, 5.7 & 6.6L). GM getting strange how they’re doing truck/SUV cycles in regards to new exterior/interior & their mid-cycle refresh. Your new lease has a pretty much whole new front - very subtle design changes but they’re present. Biggest change after MY 22 was interior. Enjoy the new truck! 1 Quote

Are they getting rid of the fuel management nightmare? I’m in the market and am looking at a z71 but personally know several folks who’ve had to dump $7-10k in lifter, cam, and transmission repairs just over 100k miles. My days of keeping a truck passed the warranty period may coming to an end. Even Toyotas are having quality control issues now. Quote

Not sure a unit with 100K of who knows what kind of miles, that needs repairs can be considered a quality control issue. Irregardless, the 2024 GMC Sierra AT4 I am currently driving is anything but a nightmare. Awesome is considerably more appropiate. A-Jay 1 Quote

Much better looking than what Ford and Toyota are producing which is a first in a while. I still don’t understand why GM makes you spend $60k to get a center console though. Should be standard option these days. 100k miles is 3-4 years of driving for most folks down south. My current truck has 170k miles on it and most extensive repair thus far is a water pump. At the prices they charge you should be able to drive it way past 100k miles before having to pull the heads and drop the tranny. Just my opinion. 2 Quote

RipzLipz Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 1 hour ago, GReb said: Are they getting rid of the fuel management nightmare? Not that I am aware. They’re boring out the 5.3L to a 5.7L & 6.2L to a 6.6L. That’s all as far as I know. The engines from the K2 (2014-2018) had AFM (basically cylinder deactivation) which always shut off the same 4 cylinders which is said to cause uneven engine wear. T1 (current generation) has DFM (dynamic fuel management) which shuts off as many cylinders as possible given the current driving conditions, using 17 different firing patterns, which I assume will result in more even engine wear. K2 engine related issues, from my understanding, have been due to lifters & cams. Many claim to ignore the built-in oil change frequency & keep it around 4-5k miles. I owned a 2016 Sierra SLT with 5.3L paired with 8 speed transmission. Hated the transmission. It shifted hard & was clunky feeling. It started having an issue the service tech called fish-biting @ 55k miles, which is best described as a missing out sensation while driving at highway speeds. They swapped transmission fluid & cleaned the catch magnet & I drove it for another 25k-30k miles & traded for a new 2019 Denali with 6.2L & 10 speed transmission. MUCH improved transmission. Can’t comment on current T1 engine issues - mine’s got very low miles due to pandemic & I keep it properly serviced. Given me zero problems. Every manufacturer has their own issues. Not limited to automotive industry either - everyone is getting cheap on quality. 2 Quote
