But out of ALL of the great features & characteristics of the new AT4 that I really love . . . MPG is not one of them. But I knew that going in. Of course "Joe" isn't helping anyone out either A-Jay 2 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted April 5, 2021 Global Moderator Posted April 5, 2021 Yeah when I read how much horsepower that truck had, I knew MPG wasn’t what you were going for I bet you could pull a yacht if you had to though 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted April 5, 2021 Author Super User Posted April 5, 2021 And you would be correct sir. I don't drive a whole lot, but when I do I prefer to do it with authority . . . . You know what it's like. A-Jay 1 Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted February 21, 2023 Author Super User Posted February 21, 2023 First of this month marked year two with this AT4 and I am still loving it. Time flies when we're having fun. So right about this time next next year I should be taking delivery of a new one (2024). Plan on placing the order beginning of October. Probably going with Black this time. Body style hasn't change which means I should be able to simply move the A.R.E Cap from my current rig to the new one. Always a Plus. I'll be very interested to see what the 'current' residual value will be. Depending on the used truck market next spring, there could be a surprise. A-Jay 1 1 Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted February 22, 2023 Author Super User Posted February 22, 2023 Over the years here, my dealer (Jeff & I have become good friends) He knows what he getting well in advance of me turning it it. Essentially pristine condition inside & out that still has warranty mileage available. So three years old with, less than 20k on it. I even run my own wheels & rubber in the winter, so the OEM wheel & tires I turn in have practically no mileage on them and look brand new. There's often 3 or 4 prospective buyers lined up and wait for me to turn it in. Same Ex -Marine has bought the last two I turned in. Jeff makes some money and I'll get a decent down payment. This one should be particularly interesting as used vehicle prices & availability have been all over the map recently. If for some reason the residual was way upside down, I'll just refinance, keep it a year and then sell it out right myself. Haven't had to do that yet, as Jeff keeps making deals I can't refuse. After this winter is over I'll give it the A-Jay treatment and take it in for an oil change. That'll remind them that I'll be in the market for a new one and wheels will start turning. Love living in a small town. A-Jay 3 Quote

I think most of us here that have seen your boat, fishing gear, and other “stuff” can probably assume that the truck is kept in similar condition. Pristine is a good word to describe that. 1 Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted February 22, 2023 Super User Posted February 22, 2023 I keep my trucks a bit longer, but like your Ex - Marine buyer, the same farmer has bought my last two trucks. He was actually leaving the dealership with my last trade in before I finished my paperwork. 1 Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted February 22, 2023 Super User Posted February 22, 2023 dang. I drive my trucks waaayy longer. the math just works better in my favor. my current truck is getting downright ancient. Quote

Same here - if it hadn't been totaled some years back (other driver took responsibility at the scene), I'd probably STILL be driving my '98 WT-1500. It was the first (and last) vehicle I bought new. The '01 Silverado I'm driving now I purchased used in 2016 (half paid for by the WT insurance payout). Yes I beat it, but I also maintain it...hopefully it'll last until I don't drive anymore. On my fixed income, purchasing even a used vehicle now would put the hurt on my finances. Quote
Woody B Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 I've been getting a new truck every 3 to 5 years for the last 20+ years. The current market and some newer technology I don't like has me keeping mine longer this time. (4 years so far, probably keep it until there's nothing left) 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted April 12, 2023 Author Super User Posted April 12, 2023 Past few days have been decent so I took the opportunity to finally clean off the winter crud. I'll change the wheels out today after my workout. Is it me or does a clean rig just run better ? #professionalgrade A-Jay 3 1 Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted April 12, 2023 Super User Posted April 12, 2023 Just like you, I feel a clean rig is a good rig. If you take care of it, it will take care of you. Just got back from Florida and drove through some rain coming home as well as a weeks worth of salt dew from the ocean and a heaping helping of squished bugs. I had to pull the pressure washer out of storage and get after it. Looked good for a couple of days and then the pollen hit. Having owned a black truck, I can sympathize greatly. I need to wash again and throw the cover on it. 1 Quote
Super User Bird Posted April 12, 2023 Super User Posted April 12, 2023 Bought my truck 2021 F-250 about the same time A-Jay did. Sadly it just got booted from it's garage space, it fell victim to a Bass boat ? Glad you're still enjoying that truck, she's sharp. 2 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted September 20, 2023 Author Super User Posted September 20, 2023 Bringing this one back ~ Because as hard as it is to believe, it's that time once again. My lease ends in Feb 24, however to ensure I am able to get the new rig, the way I want/need it and in a timely manner, ordering it in the next week or two has worked out. If it shows up late, they extend my lease briefly, and if it arrives a little early, the dealer just parks it. Good thing about this time around is that the body style on the 2024 hasn't changed from my 2021. So it's simply a matter of moving the CX Revo A.R.E. Cap (which I love btw) from the old rig to the new one. I am planning on getting pretty much exactly what I have, (option & accessory wise) just with a zeroed out odometer, a fresh warranty and that new truck smell. Seems the interior has been tweaked a little. Finally, and this is a real possibility, if the projected inventory of 2024 AT4's is somehow wonky, seriously delayed or in any other way not going to allow for a super smooth transition from one rig to the other, I will simply keep this one (which I'm very happy) It currently has less than 16K miles on it. I'll just refinance it and reassess my options in a year or two. Got an appointment with the GMC dealer tomorrow morning and we'll see how it goes . . . A-Jay 8 Quote
