Chevy's had that for a while - the panel for my 2001 for example

1999-2002 Silverado 4WD Switch NP8 W/ Auto 4WD

I've only had 4WD on two vehicles - and both of those bought used. A '84 AMC Cherokee and the current '01 Silverado. In the 4 years I had the Jeep, I think I used 4WD maybe half a dozen times, 5 years (so far) for the pickup - maybe 4 or 5 times.

Only vehicle I bought new was a '98 1500 Work Truck - RWD, but it had a 5-speed manual which more than made up for it's 'deficiencies'.

I’ve only had one 4x4, my current truck. Don’t know how I ever made it without........

actually I do remember how I did without. I got stuck in wet grass!

Spent a good part of today acquainting myself with this new rig.

There's a bit more/new in this one vs the 2018 truck I traded in.

Mostly on the technology side ~ trailering innovations, cameras, smartphone integrations & driver-centric alerts.

All the while I did enjoy the heck out of the Bose system. (always do)

Planning a shake down cruise deal for later this week that will include

 snow blazing a trail down a few two tracks;

just check out a few of the Lake Menderchuck access points don't cha know.

choice ride, congratulations - the jealousy at this end is oozing.  ?

the best thing about an old truck, though -

- you can smoke cigars while you drive

When are the pipes getting added on?

Cat back and performance package were installed at the dealership before I took delivery.   2 inch lift and off road suspension happened during the build at the factory.

The cold air inductuon deal is very cool, get it....

And the air filter can is HUGE.

there was a report on corpusfishing this morning that makes me want to take your new truck down the beach - hey, I'll wash it.

Quote

This AM my bride and I drove down the beach. We drove off the pavement at 7:30 and came off the sand at 2:30.
We traveled down 42 miles and found a very pronounced pinch.
While there I caught one bonnet head shark.
One 17 inch Gaft top.
8 whiting in 14/16 size.
15 pompano 12/14 inch class.
Water cleared at about 11:30am to 8 of 10 clarity.
Drive was great.
Good luck if you go.

Congrats on the new truck A-Jay. I think you made a great choice. I especially like the V8. Plenty of power there when you need it.

Nice ride, I’m sure it will serve you well.  I can’t seem to let go of my vehicles in a timely fashion.  My last truck I bought new in 2004 a 3/4 ton HD Silverado 6 liter with 4.10 gearing.  Awesome truck overall and I ran it to 175k before trading it in on a new truck in 2016.  I am still driving that truck a 1/2 ton Silverado High Country, 5.3, and the 8 speed transmission.  My dealership manager who is also a fisherman told me I would like the new truck much better for towing my boat and he was 100% right.  I’m right 52,000 now.  Get your truck professionally ceramic coated and never worry about the paint again.

Thank you Sir ~

Sometimes these things just feel like old friends.

But the 6 months of serious road salt here is sufficient to have me re-homing them every three years.  Regardless of how well I keep the Top coat (which always looks great at trade in)

sneak a peak at the undercarriage after 36 months and it's a little scary.

btw - I do that coating myself - did the boat as well last fall before I put it up.

And you're right it's next level.

Good Luck with your rig.

I thought about the undercarriage after I posted and understand your priority to keep your inventory newer?.  Luckily here in Virginia they don’t brine much and now that I’m retired I am not required to drive in it.  My last truck was a puller only and not my daily driver so it never saw salt either.  When I traded it the new car manager told me that it was not even going on the lot one of the shop mechanics already had spoken for it.  I’m a little anal with keeping my vehicles clean.  I just tried a new product from 303 called Graphine.  It’s only been on a week so I can’t report on it yet.

The technology side of things was a big surprise for me going from a 2001 Yukon XL to the new Sierra. I’m sure a little more comfortable with it than I was, but it’s fun. The HUD, Adaptive Cruise Control, the trailering options,  and gobs of power to enjoy and a little better fuel economy compared to the 6.0. And the Start/Stop stutoff feature got me the first time driving solo due to being technologically challenged at the time ?.

Looking forward to your thoughts on the trailering aspects of the new truck

Nice ! Il just had “old truck day” ?

Translation : A relative borrowed my “98 dodge ram and totaled it ?

So now Im truck less indefinitely.

I think theres only been 1 year out of the last 36 that I havent had a truck. Im having truck withdrawals but at least I can enjoy someone elses good fortune.

I like that truck in that color- just noticed  one the other day around here.

I love dodges but Ive kind of got the urge for a toyota this time. But at this point Id take most anything I could afford ( which aint much ) !

  Can u afford this?

Great mileage. Uses no oil. Tires last a long time. Won't go fast, but you can't have everything.  ???                           jj

p.s. - more affectionate than a Toyota.

Looks pretty nice. Too bad your gonna have to get it all covered in salt now. That’s the one down side to buying a truck in the winter up here, it looks good for about the first 100yds away from the dealership, then chalky white crap until May.

I been washing mine once a week or every other here in ND and as long as its super cold it stays clean. The salty white chalk look doesn't show up unless its warmer. Pretty nice they have heated bays, with heated power washers just need bucket and soap etc.

My rig is currently in a state of suspended animation & hibernation in my garage.

Meaning I the only time I drive it now is when the roads are no longer covered in groad or when we are completely out of food - Ours & the dogs . . . . .

Looking forward getting the cap put on once it comes it (early April) then the bed rug

and finally the new set of aftermarket 20's for KO's - winter wheels.

Should look pretty sweet.
