Yes they do!  I have one SC4 and 3 SC5s and my wife has a SC5 in the MLXF and i have a sc5 76mlxf to build yet

Last season I used a 7"1". That's is the longest rod I own. If I do not like the 7"3" for wacky, will find a good use. Thank you for your opinion.

I have two favorite ways of wacky rigging. One's the close quarter style with a 6'8" for docks and such. The other is out in the open or in the salad with a 7'+ rod and a blazing fast reel.  The fish get pinned and just stay that way. I use an LTB Wacky Style for up close, and I have been searching for some time for another 7'6" M/F to replace my old favorite rod. Between the two, the longer rod's my favorite. Hopefully, there's one in this line up, but a 7'3" would do as well.

theres no way you could have caught a fish on that rod. i mean it doesnt have exposed blank on the reel seat.??

Same way it gets done on every spinning rod I own. Must be special cork in them, because everything I read on the internet says it deadens the feel. So many myths.

That’s a ridiculous argument, if vibrations are not transmitted better through contact with the blank then why does most every other casting rod, including the rest of Saint Croix’s lines, have a seat that exposes it?  As for spinning rods, most of the better ones are designed to allow you to hold them in a way that allows one to touch the blank with an index finger.  
 

Choosing to use a minimalist reel seat and then filling the middle of it with cork is absolutely “non standard” and it’s worth pointing out, just because Saint Croix is suddenly a sponsor isn’t a valid reason to question an unusual design decision.

I don't think so.  I have a older Deep South flipping stick that doesn't have an exposed blank, and I feel everything just fine.  So, do you think spinning rods are less sensitive than casting rods with exposed blanks?  Anyway, I got mine this weekend, preliminary tests tell me sensitivity is not an issue.

I absolutely feel like touching the exposed blank with my fingertip transmits more vibration than holding the grip with my hands only touching the cork/EVA, to the point where I will not even look at a spinning rod that I can’t grip “finger forward”. 
 

With the overwhelming majority of casting rods on the market featuring reel seats that allow blank contact, it would be interesting hear the rationale why they went with a different design for this line, esp when the rest of their lineup has blank-through seats. 
 

The only reason I actually care is that I have an Avid casting rod (6’3” M/XF) that I am absolutely crazy about and as this new line seems to fill the same price niche as the Avid, I’m wondering if I need to hunt down a spare or two.

I felt that mushy bite with cold fingers in heavy current. I don't notice a difference between the exposed vs covered blank in rods. The blank goes into the handle, if a fish hits it hard enough that it transmits down the blank to the handle, I'd probably feel it with any rod out there. I keep my finger under the line and watch my line, a lot of bites are detected by "weighing", my bait also, which is what happened to that fish. I get wanting one over the other, just not anywhere on my priority list when choosing a new rod.

   Fashion. Fifty years ago I caught fish on a fiberglass rod that was connected to an aluminum reel seat by means of a collet.

 agreed but it has to be about cost cutting. 

 

I was initially very excited about the blank but then they cut a lot of corners in making the final build (not full cork -using EVA foam to finish it off and then a non blank exposed reel seat)

 

of course you will still catch fish on them but it could have been better.

i really didnt want to stir up anything , i mean to me its not a big deal. its a fishing rod if it bothers people just buy a different one. i just think some of this stuff goes a little overboard. i use primarily legend tournament bass rods. apparently they are so tip heavy one can barley lift them without a weight training program. i didnt realize that til i read it on the internet.i mean its a freaking fishing rod... buy what you like.

I would encourage anyone to actually handle the rods before passing judgement.  So far, the rod I received is pretty good. Stay tuned for pics and updates.

I too have been using SC rods for a long times and have never been disappointed in their quality and CS.
