Finessegenics Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 There’s been some talk for a while now of St Croix releasing a new lineup of rods. I don’t know if anyone’s started a thread on it but St Croix has made it official. They’re saying the rod is an SC6 - SC3 hybrid. Not sure how that works but it seems like these rods will be on par with the Avid series. I’m definitely gonna get my hands on one when they’re released. https://stcroixrods.com/pages/new-st-croix-rod 1 Quote
Sir Shamsalot Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 I watched the new video this morning as well. As a Croix fan, it definitely has my interest. Quote
GetFishorDieTryin Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 I love my Avids, but I havent bought a new 1 for years. There are several rods at a lower price point that can = or surpass the sensitivity of the Avids. I wonder if theyre going to build these in Mexico to offset the cost. Quote
walleyecrazy Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 I saw the teaser video this morning, and it has me interested. I don’t currently own any of their rods, but may grab one of these when they come out to see how they are. Quote
RichF Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 I started a thread about this too. Glad to know it's a brand new line coming out and just new models of existing ones. I'm really intrigued to see where the price point will be. Seems like Croix already has something in every category. Wonder if something is getting cut. 1 Quote
kayaking_kev Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 The St.Croix Panfish Series rod that I have is made of blended SCII and SCVI. I wish I would of tried more St.Croix rods, but I think I'm probably done buying production rods. I held some Avids and below at a Bass Pro Shop and wasn't impressed though. Quote

Sir Shamsalot Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 Having read the latest email, they're calling it an SCIII+ and the price point looks to be around the Avid line. The email did address better rod balancing. So basically it seams in performance, possibly weight, and pricing... Mojo/Avid < New Rod Line < LTBass/LTW For now yet subject to change. More yet still to come. 2 Quote

More yet still to come. Yup, I saw $180-$230. Also sounds like an unpainted blank to help reduce weight. I imagine we'll start seeing the Avid Xs on sale soon. Quote
kingmotorboat Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 Where are y’all seeing this info. I can’t find anything. Would love to try a croix one day Quote

NJ_Snappy_Bois Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 really hope they have a 7'5"-ish jig/bottom contact. Maybe a true BFS model too... That would surely sell 1 Quote

I've got several older Avids too and don't really fish them much anymore. I'm a huge St. Croix fan but have kind of moved on to trying different brands and higher end rods. Just out of curiosity what rods do you think are more sensitive at a lower cost than the Avid line? Quote

I feel like the 13 Muse M F is more sensitive then the older Avids without the ART and matches or is slightly more sensitive then the newer 1 I have. I think the blanks are very similar, weight and action wise, with the SC having a little more power. The full cork grip and the painted blank of the SC makes the Avid slightly heavier then the Muse. The biggest difference IMO is that the Muse balances better with lighter reels. IDK if the EVA transfers vibration better then cork or if the reel seat on the Muse, but I feelthere is enough of a difference that I use my Muse over the Avids for bottom contact. GetFishorDieTryin Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Really? Thats what I figured they would cost if they were made in Mexico. The Avids are 210-240 I think without the SCVI. I figured they would be about 300$. I hope they can get a bunch of them out soon so I can snag 1. Quote
evo2s197 Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 According to St. Croix that the price point, between those two numbers. Per St. Croix: "On February 15, St. Croix Rod will announce the exciting details of a landmark launch for the brand; an all-new bass-centric rod series that will help hard-core bass anglers rack up more wins, however they may be defined. The challenge? Deliver the best technique-specific bass rods on the market between $180 and $250, do it with an all-new material, handcraft them right here in Park Falls, Wisconsin, USA, and make them available to anglers at the time of their official launch in March of 2021." TcRoc Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Its has my attention,, been reading the emails they've sent and the teaser stuff. I like my Mojo so am interested in what it is.. Quote
Finessegenics Posted February 4, 2021 Author Posted February 4, 2021 Looks like they listened to the public and really tried to improve the balance on this lineup. Might just be talk but we'll see. The LTB is infamous for it's tip-heaviness. Never fished one so I can't comment on that. I can say it is not that big of an issue with my Avids, at least in my experience. More news on the 8th. Quote
RichF Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 The hype train is getting annoying....but it's working lol. 1 Quote
