Maybe this deserves its own thread, but do Smallmouth ever hit Hard Swim baits and will not touch a soft swimbait/tube/grub/finesse worm?

As a general rule? Or as a once in a while sort of thing? There are days they get lock jaw and won't hit much of anything, and there are days when they will hit just about anything you put in front of their face, not sure it's a terribly helpful answer but "it depends" is all I can come up with.

I've run across smallies that were in a topwater mood hit a 6" Punker like it's their last meal.

When they are on whatever your throwing they hit harder than any other fish it has been my good fortune to catch, if there's something in my area that hits and fights any harder than a smallmouth I'd love to know what it is

I’ve never met one that wouldn’t eat a tube
