The smaller one gets more bites. The bigger one seems to only work on big gals and on fewer occasions. Though I've caught a 6 lb. on the size 90. The drawback of the 90 is that it's more prone to spin on retrieve. You need the rod tip high, which is difficult from a kayak.

Fastach clip with barrel swivel has helped with this problem for me.

Lipless crankbaits.  I know guys catch a ton on them but here in the Ozarks we have very little grass, so I rarely use them in the highland reservoirs around me.

Frog, hollow body and popping. Can never catch on them.

Same with me. Never caught a fish on a frog. I actually dont do well on top water in general, occasional, only WP here and there

Soft plastic lizards for me. When I was a kid, I used to throw them all the time...A simple green pumpkin zoom lizard, and I would catch a lot of volume, but not a lot of big ones.

I have tried them again as I have progressed in my fishing life, and I cannot get a bite on one anymore.  I have tried them T-rigged and Carolina rigged, to no prevail.

I would have to go with a jerkbait. I get discouraged after a while and pick up a jig or crankbait.

Chatterbaits. They just don't seem to work well on the lakes I fish.

Got grass?

Not much. May be that's the problem?

I don’t think it’s a necessity but that’s how I catch fish with chatterbait. It comes through some pretty thick milfoil and whammy. david koechner anchorman GIF

also there a lots of times when I just magically have a fish on it, like they inhaled it while swimming toward the boat. That usually happens on a steady retrieve

Chatterbait and whopper plopper, neither work for me.  Chatterbait I am working on as I know it will work sometime.  Plopper catches 1/2 a blade of grass from someone's lawn clippings and it fouls.

his catfish chunks were awful too. we didn’t get one single bite, and when i tried to feed them to my cousins dog, all she did was roll around in them.

Man, so many of my favorites listed here ?

Things I've given up on;

Fat Ikas-I don't get it, they don't work for me and when I do get bit, I'm running a perfect 0.000 hookup ratio on them.

Anything that says Lunkerhunt or LiveTarget on it.

Things I'm real close to giving up on;

Flutter spoons-I love jigging spoons, but flutter spoons are just a mystery to me.

Anything from Rapala that isn't a Shad Rap. I'm tired of broken baits ?‍♂️

Lipless crankbaits, aka Rat L Traps...I seem to lose them within the first 5 casts and then I give up and switch to a spinnerbait or something that I can bump into cover.

They generally perform better on grassy flats than around wood cover. I never had much luck with them on the bigger lakes until I started fishing a grassy reservoir. It's one of my top 3 lures in this place.

For me its a Cristy critter. They look great but Ive never had a bite on one.

I have caught 1 fish ever on a whopper plopper, and strangely enough, it was on the first cast.

I have not caught 1 fish on a jig. I know it’s probably because I dont fish them much. Same thing with a chatterbait. All I catch is clods of weeds...

Try them on spawning bass.

Wait, I break shad raps all the time. Do you have some made out of hardy plank that I don’t know about? Haha

I've completely given up on Beetle Spins.  I don't think I've ever had a hit on one.

Hollow bodied frog, but not because I can't catch bass with it.  When I fish a frog it will attract every bullfrog in a 5 mile radius.

I’ve never had that happen, but bullfrog makes a fine meal if you ever want to turn that problem into a good evening

Same here. Even during the spawn, nada...

Never had a bite on a hollow bodied frog. I’ve casted off or snagged all six jackhammers I’ve tried in the last two years. Almost immediately after tying them on. One time I casted off two and snagged one in like 25 minutes. Talk about sour. I don’t get it. This year I have two more jackhammers two foggies and two thunder crickets. If i loose these with no fish. Right after I throw up I will vow to never buy another blades jig.

I've broken a couple, but they've always been my fault from bouncing off rocks on the cast, slamming one into a bridge on the cast, fish throwing them into the side of the boat when they jump, things that understandably break a balsa bait. I've never had one break for mystery reasons like so many DTs and the first OG Slim I bought did to me.
