What are the baits you simply aren't going to try anymore?  They may work for others but just not for you.

For myself, I can't really think of any. My problem is the opposite.  I need to give more baits a decent chance.  I tend to stay locked into my favorites.

Maybe the GYBC Fat Ika. I catch the vast majority of bass on soft plastics of all types but I’ve never gotten one strike on these.

Maybe I need to rig them different. I’ve tried weightless and weighted TR and on jig heads. But I’ve gotten nada on them.

Have you seen the fish from Springfield Lake?

Spinnerbaits. It doesn't matter what pond, lake, or river I'm on, they do not work.

I love the idea of spinnerbaits and I do catch the occasional fish on them but I’ve never had a great day throwing them and I pretty much always start out throwing them. I’m going to tinker with some different baits and skirts and maybe even trailers this spring and see what happens.

The smaller one gets more bites. The bigger one seems to only work on big gals and on fewer occasions. Though I've caught a 6 lb. on the size 90. The drawback of the 90 is that it's more prone to spin on retrieve. You need the rod tip high, which is difficult from a kayak.

Chatterbaits. They just don't seem to work well on the lakes I fish.

They are a sporadic lure for me. I got my PB on one though. The place I catch the most bass on the spinnerbait is a little pond full of standing timber. They can't resist it when you're bumping the logs with it.

That's a key with spinnerbaits, I run em into everything.

A bait I've given up on is a full size Brush Hog, can't even remember getting a bump on one!

Stupid tubes are definitely on a short leash with me.  I have lost too many fish on these and they tear up after 1 or 2 hooksets and I am often unhappy with the way they look.  I have no doubt that they are effective and tubes are my best bait for smallmouth of all time but the Stupid Tube has not been a good bait for me .

I don't use them a lot but I have caught nice fish on them.  I was pitching them weightless in a clear, shallow, weedy water with pretty good success.  I fish them how I fish a Senko.  Fishing them on the fall on weed edges like lily pads is very effective.

Two years ago I didn't do that well with chatterbaits but killed it with swim jigs.  This past summer I didn't do well with swim jigs but killed it with chatterbaits..........same waters.......

No wonder I always bring way to many lures in my kayak.

Have you rigged them backwards weightless? I’ve had awesome luck doing it that way. I don’t fish them anymore because I can’t find them around here and I always forget when I place online orders.

Actually, that was the way I first rigged them lol. Backwards and forward.

Maybe I need to try it like a Neko rig lol.

This is still one of my go to baits.  I have one rigged every time I go out.   I always catch something on it but it requires patience and you can't have the trolling motor going none stop.  It's a sit and pop bait for me.

As far as what I have given up on.....  KVD crankbaits.

lol. No trolling motor in my inflatable. Maybe too much wind drift? ?

I've only used the 70's and 110's.  Probably less than five bass on each over the years.

Bladed jigs for me for sure.  I am heading down to Okeechobee in February and my intel is that I better not show up without them and GYCB Zako trailers so I am going to give them another try.
