Has anyone here tried these rods? I'm looking at the 703c in particular. It looks like a lot of rod for under $100. But I also know you get what you pay for.... Anyone?

I have one of the first run models that retailed for over $200.  It took the place of the old Certified Pro series.  I got it as a replacement for a Cert Pro I had that TSA broke on a flight.  The components and craftsmanship seemed very nice but it broke setting the hook on a 2 pounder.  I got a free placement from Lamiglas for that one and it legit broke in the same spot on the hookset.  This was quite a few years ago so I don't know what the new ones are like.

As much as I used to fish Lamiglas and loved the old Excel, XMG50 and Certified Pro series,  the company lost interest in bass rods when Skeet Reese left.  The designer was in the middle of developing a promising series at that time.  He’s a great guy who is now with Okuma US.  Enough rambling.  The XP series have old technology blanks and are not balanced.  The actions are not progressive and take their actions from steelhead models.  Strangely.  The model in the XP casting is the 703.  You would be  better served with other options out their.  Just being honest.

I used Lamiglas custom rods for 35 years. 2012 Lamiglas basically changed business model and suggested I contact Alex at ALX for custom rod build using Lamiglas  highend rod blanks. Dobyns used Lamiglas blanks to start his business now gets his rods off shore.

I suggest looking at Dobyns Fury series, good rods for the price.

Thanks guys. I too was a big Lamiglas fan back in my river rat days. I was just surfing around and saw these rods. It's sad to see what their bass rods have become. I've got a couple of Fury's. I don't find them sensitive enough for bottom contact baits.

Contact Dobyns ask for credit and a upgrade from his shop inventory.

No need to. One is a 735c for frogs and the other is a 795sb. Sensitivity doesn't really come into play for what I use them for.

I had one for a couple seasons, for the price it is a decent rod. The main thing I didn't like was the reel seat/grip, it just wasn't comfortable for me.
