Assuming you could get the Dobyns Champ 705 CB for $200 would you get that or save some money and get the Fury 705 CB instead and grab some lures to throw on it as well?

How do the 2 rods compare to each other?

Or go a different brand all together and get the 7' MH MF Mojo Bass for cranking?

Fury 705CB + stuff. The fact that it's a crankbait rod makes the decision easy for me. If it was a Texas rig or jig rod it would easily swing the other way.

While both are crankbait rods, going with the Fury and having money for lures makes it a no-brainer to me. I have the Fury 705CB and it's been a darn good rod for cranks and topwaters.

Both of the models are good rods. I've used the Fury for a couple seasons and it is a great rod. I'd say go with the Fury if you want to pickup some other lures to add to your tackle box.

I'm wanting to throw the lv500. I know this rod says it will do that but how do you feel about it?  It's a 3/4oz lure would it be a bit much?

I toss Super Spooks with mine - they're also 3/4oz. Long as you don't try to get max distance, you'll be fine...a good lob will be plenty far enough given the weight, no need to try to bomb the cast.

Well I think that decides it for me. I appreciate your input a lot. I'm terrible at making decisions on my own haha

I have the fury, never used the champion so I can’t comment on that. I’ve found the fury to do everything I’ve wanted it to do. I also find it fairly versatile. I might be in the minority, but I love it for 1/2 ounce spinner baits. I rarely miss or loose fish on it. I’m sure the champ is a better stick, but everything I’ve used it for the fury has been fine.

Fury 705cb + currado dc + 5/8 lipless = unbelievably long,long casts.

Get the better rod.  Money will come around later to get baits.

That’s solid advice.

I have the Champion 705 CB, it's great for mid range cranks, squarebills and Jerkbaits, I use to have a Fury 703c which was a nice rod,but I had issues with the guide footings getting loose. I would go with the Champion 705CB,it has fuji guides, which I have never had an issue with. Also, are you particular with grips?Fury is split grip,Champion is full grip, that should be a consideration in your final decision.

Ya I actually like the split grip more than full myself. I went with the fury after handling them in a store. The Champion at $200 was all the budget i had and then i wouldn't have been able to get the lures i was wanting to throw on it so I went with the fury. I've got 60 days for the return policy so worst case I'll try it out and if I dont like it I'll take it back.

Fury 705CB is a great rod for its price, I have one that I use for small to medium crankbaits  and it's not the most sensitive rod out there but the best in that price range for sure. Never had guide issues, I hope you enjoy it.
