My new boat

Just bought this boat over the weekend and I am very happy with it. It is light enough that i can load and unload it by myself. Very cheap way to get yourself off the bank and to be able to hit the spots you always look at from the bank but cant get to. Does anyone else have one of these?

I got a 10 footer I use on my pond.  Like it real well for that.

You throw on a trolling motor that you can take on and off and a battery and you can get around a pretty good amount area.  I use my motor some but most of the day it is with the trolling motor and yours is a lot lighter then mine so your battery should last longer and cover my area.

I have a 9' Pond Prowler with a 30lb thrust Minnkota in front and a 3.5hp Mercury in the back. You can fish any size lake with this rig .. it just takes time to get places.

Congrats.....you will love that little boat.  I have a 9' Pond Prowler with a 55# TM.  I just bought a new Triton but I bet I still get the little prowler wet pretty often...  Just a fun little boat and gets me on some real nice water where I am the only boat and most times the only fisherman...

I have the exact same boat.  Works really well for small lakes and ponds.  

A big factor with it is wind.  It doesn't take much wind to really move the boat around.  

Also if your fishing two people out of it can be a pain.  Especially if there's any wind at all.  But it's great for just fishing one person.  I use my leg to bump steer my trolling motor, so it has close to the same affect as a foot controlled motor.

I really do love this boat. I've noticed the wind being a huge factor in keeping this boat steady though. But it still got me off the bank and I'm loving it. I'm thinking of buying the portable fish finder for it. Does anyone have any recommendations on that?

On being off the bank. I hear ya. I would have taken 2 old oil drums nailed together to get off the bank. LOL.

For portable fish finders, I have the bottom of the line Eagle Cuda 168. Been using it for a year and it has been an absolute game changer. You do not get a high resolution view of things but you do get a good idea what is down below you and that alone has helped me find spots I never would have otherwise. It is about the cheapest I have seen out there but at the time, was all I could afford and majorly beat the heck out of having nothing at all.

Yes, you can use just a trolling motor with them. Its better to have a 2.5 or 3 hp motor if you want to get out on a bigger lake, but most people that buy them around here just use 30,40,55 lb thrust motors to get them up and down creeks and around ponds. I know the pelican bass raider can hold up to a 2.5 hp and has front/back hook ups for trolling motor.
