1) Seaguar Red Label. All around the best knot holding and resistance at its price point IMO. I’m really wanting to try out the Invisix line too.

2) Strike King Tour- picked up several spools online on sale and was surprised because I took a leap of faith with it and it holds really well too.

3) Berkeley Vanish- I know I know lol. I picked up the only spool of 12lb fluoro that my local Walmart had on the shelf during COVID last year and to be completely honest, it did pretty well.

The Bad:

1) Pline Fluoro clear. Right out of the gate the line would break with such ease that I wondered if it was made last century. It had the absolute worst bird nesting on any of my reels to boot.

Seaguar Abrazx IMO is the best-buy fluoro.

With Seaguar Tatsu, you can gain a little less line memory at almost 3X the cost.

Other than trying a Berkley copolymer that extruded to a smaller diameter and locked up my daughter's Penn 4200SS spool most of 10 years ago, catching speepshead on the flats, nothing but Seaguar for me because of their exceptional knot strength.  (there's a long story about other brand fluoro tippet and 30+" Kenai rainbows)

I’ve tried Sniper, Shooter and InvisX.

Now I only use Sniper and Shooter exclusively.

I never understood the difference between those. What applications are for each type?

I've tried just about all of them.

Best:

Tatsu, Invisx, Blue label, Gold Label

What are your top three fluorocarbon lines

Top 3! I can barely find one that I'm some what happy with.

InvizX is what I've had on my jig rod for close to a year. Other than having to carry a bottle of line juice it's ok but still ain't done testing.

Tried Sniper on my worm rod but I had a professional overrun so bad I had to cut it out. No one had any more Sniper in stock so I went with InvizX 15#.

So far the only issue I have is I can't see the it on cloudy days fishing off colored water.

Abraz X is my favorite as well, I do like Sunline Assassin for the money, sometimes I can find 660 yard spools on e bay at bargin prices.

Shooter has more abrasion resistance.
I use it for heavier bottom contact presentations and some punching.

It’s larger diameter especially on a rod with micro guides gives me the greatest amount of sensitivity of any line especially with a slack line.
I only use 20#.

Sniper is more supple.
It lays flatter and great for smaller bottom contact presentations in moderate to light cover and all moving bait presentations.
I use 12#, 14# and 16# depending on how, what and where I’m throwing.

I use Yozuri top knot exclusively.  It’s a bit thinner than other Fluro’s, just as strong, and even less expensive.

InvizX, Tatsu and Toray SHU are my 3 favorites.

Fluoroclear will never see another one of my reels again, if you lump it on the FC line pile. I’ve tried a bunch of others over the years, most all the common/popular brands, but nothing else stands out as horrible, though its been long enough that 1 or 2 probably were and I’ve simply forgotten ?

I'm right here as well.

Except for the Toray SHU, haven't tried that one yet.

But I expect to soon.

I don't have a 3rd Favorite as these two do everything I need FC to do for me.

As for the worst, mine are all old versions of FC tried several years ago.

Knot strength was so bad I wrote FC off for quite a while (and stuck with mono).

That list includes several brands/versions that may not need to be mentioned here.

Once I gave FC another shot I started & ended with the Seaguar listed above.

It worked well, I stopped there and haven't looked back.

The only FC I use is 10# on a baitcaster. I’ve tried all different brands and here’s where I’m at now:

1) Seaguar Tatsu. I really thought all the Tatsu hype you read on Bass Resource was just the moderators tooting a sponsor’s horn! Then I tried Tatsu last summer and realized THE HYPE IS REAL! Line management, castability, smooth, supple, limp, abrasion resistant, low stretch. I wouldn’t change anything about this fluorocarbon except the price!

2) Gamma Edge. Handles well and very abrasion resistant. Thicker than Seaguar fluorocarbons though and MORE expensive than Tatsu.

3) Seaguar Abrazx.

Worst was Berkley Vanish. It would break on the hookset almost every time.

I had tried Vanish, Sunline Super Fluorocarbon and Fluroclear, and the results were so bad that I gave up on FC line totally and couldn't understand why anyone would want to use that stuff.

But people here kept talking about it, and I realized there was an extreme difference in FC lines across the board, and that there was an ongoing development of FC within the industry. So I tried again, this time with InvizX.

That's all it took.  :cheer:                   jj

Best

Seaguar Tastsu

Seaguar Invizx

Seaguar Abrazx

H.M.> Daiwa J Fluoro.  Still evaluating this but looks promising

Like but Not as Much.....

Trilene XL 100% FC

Sunline Shooter

Sunline Sniper

Gamma > like and sort dislike

One's I Have Tried but Dislike

Berkley Vanish

Seaguar Red Label

On a side note.... P-Line FloroClear is not a true Fluorocarbon line.  It's copoly with a coating.   I used this stuff for years and never had an issue.  I used it for crankbaits mostly and always used 12lb.  It lasts as long as mono and is not very abrasion resistant.  Overall, it has a short life span> which is why I have stayed with my favorite FC's and not gone back.

I really would like to try sunline and the other flavors of seaguar myself.

I havnt really liked flourocarbon lines too much, at least the ones I've tried. I've had kinks, and what I thought was poor knot retention also. I may try another one this spring, but, overall, I still like mono over flouro lines for bass fishing.

Seaguar Invizex

Seaguar Red Label but in the heavier tests which I change out often.

I wouldn’t hang a bird feeder with Vanish.

I use the Berkley Vantage quite a bit for the last year and so far I find it reliable and easy to cast. I haven't noticed any tendency to birds-nest myself.

Before that I was using the Floroclear...Never again. I first bought a couple of 300 yd. spools to try it out and the 3 or 4 rods I put it on worked fine for about 1-1/2 years, so when it came time to re-spool my whole collection I bought around 25 spools of the stuff, enough to load up my reels and a good supply of spare.

Fast forward to last season and I swear that I couldn't predict what was going to happen at all. When I lost 4, count them, that's 4 consecutive Hybrid Stripped bass within about 1/2 hr, that were at least 8 or 9 lbs due to line breaking, that was the last straw. That junk cost me 10x more money in lost lures than it ever saved me by buying it to begin with.

The funny thing is that I could have 6 spools of say 15 lb test and 4 of them might be fine, but 2 of those reels would just break for no apparent reason at all.

Vanish and Pline Fluoro are the only ones I've tried...caused me to not try others.  Reading here is giving me some hope that I just picked bad.

A copolymer I didn't mention, and used for a dozen years on 500-size salt XUL, is Bluewater Firepower from Kamikaze Fishing in Australia.  It's remarkably small diameter for copolymer, 4-lb is 0.14 mm, very low memory, casts extremely well, and abrasion resistant.  It landed seatrout to 23", and even a double with 19" and 17".

Long story, a friend has me customizing four of his reels, and he included a new Tica Cetus for a gift.  I tried to order line for it from Kamikaze, but neither their website nor ebay will let US buy from Oz.

Since I was buying Japan reel parts for my friend, I threw 4-lb Toray Exthread fluoro in my AP order, which is 0.17 mm diameter, and hope it's as good as its press (price?), but Toray says each lb-test rating gets its own different resin blend and processing.
