What is the smoothest braid in the market?

as far as I know the SAMURAI is the the smoothest, Yet strongest braid out there, Do you guys having any other idea? Remember I need to get distance with it. I am thinking  20lb.

Other than the insanely expensive braid that I can't remember the name of right now, Gliss is probably going to be your best bet for distance. You're paying for those extra yards with an inability to deal with abrasion, but if open water distance is all you care about then it might be worth a try.

   I take it you're using a spinning outfit with 20 lb braid, right? And how much do you worry about knot strength?

 

   Please consider Hitena (google it) and Berkley X9. These are two of the so-called "new generation" of braids, which are smaller diameter. If they're 3rd generation, Samurai was 2nd generation, and PowerPro was 1st generation ..... or thereabouts. (Yes, I broke guides with the old Kevlar line. That was long ago.)

   The bad thing is that these lines have not been in widespread use long enough to really know their characteristics ........ good, bad or otherwise.

Berkley x9 I find to be very smooth, very tough and very affordable.   Definitely worth checking out.   I’m switch all my line to berkley x5 and x9 and haven’t looked back.  Just a suggestion.  ??‍♂️.

I love the Hitena braid other than the fact that it is so sharp it cuts through my fluorocarbon leaders. Had it on a rod for two summers and it looks as good as the day I bought it. REALLY thin in the 15ish pound test though.

it is very expensive, I just got 150 yards of it almost $50, but what can I say I need to take care of her

actually I am going to spool my anteras DC with it.

I am using samurai 15lb for my only spinning combo I have with 6lb long leader for super shy bass is winter.

Gliss is probably slicker, but its a "unifilament" so its not really a braid

   Wow. I thought YGK G-Soul was the only sinking braid. Shows how much I know. ?   jj

I've been buying my YGK X-braid from JDM.  

I think it's noteworthy that Daiwa does not sell a braid that matches Samurai in Japan domestic market.  

The color, markings and diameter/strength on Samurai exactly match YGK X-braid Upgrade.  I don't think it's a coincidence and, most probably, YGK provides Samurai 

This is the X-braid Optinium, which is the same line with 10-m color changes.  

A remarkable 14-lb test in PE# 0.6 (0.13 mm)  - this diameter is 6-lb test in 832.  I've also noticed from filling spools that YGK actually measures a bit less than its published diameter, while 832 actually measures a little thicker.

My surf reels are loaded with YKG Oddport and Castman

PE# 1.5 (0.21 mm) is 35 lb test

PE# 2.5 (0.26 mm) is 46 lb test.

Hi Jim, 

I simply apply a drop of Pink Zap CA, then flick the line so it doesn't spread past the braid wraps.  Usually do this under a strong LED light or my Ott magnifier/light.  I wait a few minutes for it to begin curing on its own, then spray with accelerator.  

This is an 18+5-turn improved Allbright on my surf line to 30-lb Gold.  (happened to hit one of the green meter marks)

I haven't used it yet but spooled three reels with Smackdown and was shocked at how smooth it looked and felt.

I use Smackdown on all of mine and I think it is very smooth. 20lb on spinning 30lb on casting

cortland silent flip is not what I think you want to use for this application but it is insanely smooth as well as their 16 carrier master braid.
