I'm looking to sell a bunch of equipment and focus on getting something nice from Shimano.

I'm curious what you guys would get and why.

How much are you planning to spend?  I bought the Curado DC 150 XG last fall and have been happy with it so far.  If I remember correctly it was around $ 250.00.

Nice reel and i do have one (casts a mile), but I was thinking like Metaniums, Aldebarans, Bantams, or Scorpions.

If I was after one workhorse spinning reel, it would be the Twin Power to get metal frame + metal rotor.

For extreme UL touch, I already have the Vanquish.

Before the 2021 season gets started in earnest, I'm going to have another higher end Shimano bait caster.   I have a couple of Curado DC reels right now.   I use them for spinner baits & chatter baits.    I've decided I'm going to throw more swim jigs, smaller (3" to 5" ) soft plastic swim baits and such, so I want to get another reaction bait reel.   Most likely another Curado DC, but the jury is still out.

C'mon guys I know you have some ideas on this subject.

If you could have any modern semi rare or hard to find Shimano baitcaster either JDM or USDM what would you pick? and why? what would you use it for?

Bantam for low profile reels. Not rare but the best quality for the price in my opinion. Conquest for round reels.

I’ve said this for years on here.
To me the best reel Shimano or anyone else ever made is the Curado E200. Granted, it doesn’t have all the new technology or the lightest of materials available, but as a reliable workhorse reel that you can throw anything on, nothing is better.

If I wanted a new currently available model regardless of brand, the Curado K would be it.

I am a Shimano fanboy and have owned a number of them over the years. I currently have the following: 5 Bantam MGL's, Curado 70, Tranx 200, 2 Metanium 2020's, Metanium 13, Scorpion MGL, Curado 70 MGL, SLX 70 MGL, Casitas. Here is my opinion on how I would rate them 1-5 just based off what I have used.

1. Metanium 2020 - The smoothest, best feeling reel IMO

2. Bantam MGL - The most solid feeling, best value

3. Curado 70 MGL - Awesome reel for soft plastics

4. Scorpion MGL - Slightly better than the K

5. Curado K

I love it!!! I knew ole Boomer Sooner would jump into the mix! I always respect your opinions on these matters.

Would you mind telling me how you use each reel? What lures you use with each? That would help me tremendously!

I think I'd take a 2020 Metanium if it's just one. If I knew the reel was specifically going to be used on a heavier setup for flipping jigs and t-rigs I'd take a Bantam.

Line capacity isn't great on these reels though. You won't dump a full spool but when you lose line from re-tying and break offs it could become an issue. I don't use mine for moving baits or long casts so it's a non-issue for me. Maybe somebody who does can chime in on this with their experience.

Nope. I have owned a few (Curado, Scorpion, Antares) but I don't really see the benefit from using them. I can dial a regular reel in just as well and IMO get one to perform better.

Calcutta 100A ?

Why: solid as an anvil, versatile as a pair of Channellocks®, & dependable as a 30/30!

Have fun that Mach Crush! ?

If just one reel, then it would be the 2020 metanium.

Smooth, cast well, feels solid and light enough to go on most rods.

I think it has the best of all properties.

I do wish it came in a 5 gear ratio though.

Well let's see, I've got 2 of em that have caught 35 double digit bass across 5 states, Bull Reds up to 25#+, & Bonita offshore.

That covers solid & versatile ?

Both are 35+ yrs old & have had a complete overhaul once...last year.

That covers reliable ?

I would say I got my $179.99 worth ?
