Hi guys.  I ordered the 7'3 Falcon Bucoo Amistad and the found the only one they had was damaged so they offered a replacement with a 7'6 Lowrider.  I am not a fan a long rods fishing mostly 6'8 and 7' rods.  I wanted the Amistad to fish Carolina rigs and some deeper baits like jigging spoons for deeper water. (25ft +)  I would like to hear from those of you that Carolina fish how often do you fish more than 1 oz.  The offered replacement has a 1oz lure max.  Could I use this with a 1oz jigging spoon?  What other uses could I use this for?  Is this too much to a deep crank?  I don't want to just get the rod because it is a good deal if I will never use it.

Here is the rod specks.

Offered
ACTION: HEAVY
FLEX: FAST
LENGTH: 7'6"
LINE WEIGHT : 15-30 LB.
LURE WEIGHT : 3/8-1 OZ.

This is what I had originally ordered.

ACTION: HEAVY PLUS
FLEX: FAST
LENGTH: 7'3"
LINE WEIGHT : 15-30 LB.
LURE WEIGHT : 1/2-1 1/2 OZ

Thanks in advance for the help.

A 7'6" Heavy was the "gold standard" flipping stick for years.   Extremely versatile rod, especially for deep fishing.

I'd use that rod for:

Carolina Rig

Flutter Spoon

Whopper Plopper

Deep Crankbait Fishing

4"-5" Swimbaits

I think you could do a 3/4oz spoon, you may be able to get away with a 1oz as well. Your best bet is to take out and see how the rod feels with a 1oz lure on it. The rod specs make me think  3/4oz jig in the weeds would be an ideal presentation.

I suspect you will end up selling the rod, it's just too big for most bass techniques.

Might be okay for stripers throwing a big Alabama Rig or targeting gigantic

catfish.

I agree with Kent. I'd pass. Maybe a eucha 7'2 in a lowrider? It's a Falcon. It will fish light. I have never wanted a 7'6 mh fast rod. In a dobyns that would be wanting a 735 and they offer you a 764.

I thought I heard that the Lowriders and Experts fished truer to their power ratings.  The Bucoos are (IMO) 2 powers lighter than their rating.  I have the 7'0 Heavy Bucoo that fishes a touch lighter than a medium heavy moderate fast.  I have several 7'6 heavy rods that I use for flipping, jigs, a-rigs, and 5-7in swimbaits.  Lots of uses for a rod like that.

Thanks Everyone.  I am going to wait and see if I can get the rod I am looking for with the Amistad.  Hopefully they get them back in.  Seems everyone is out of inventory right now.

This is why I don't buy rods off the internet unless I'm getting a copy of one I already have.  Falcons are good rods.   Pretty much any rod in their catalog would be somewhat of an upgrade in my current rod arsenal - and my rod arsenal isn't particularly shabby.    The specs of the two rods seem relatively close, but the 3" difference, which most probably is mostly in the handle, could get problematic.   My thoughts would be not so much for Carolina rigs, but I'd like the shorter rod for jigging spoons.  Low Rider is an upgrade, compared to the Buccoo, so that is something to consider as well.  What a dilemma.  I think should you want to use the rod for throwing the big cranks like the Strike King 10 XD or similar sized baits from other manufacturers, the 7'6" rod would throw baits a little farther.

Option A - wait for the rod you originally wanted.   Option  B - Accept an upgrade that is slightly different from what you wanted.   Option C  - accept the upgrade & then cut down the handle to the length you want.    Hard to go wrong with any of the above options.   To me this looks like 3 IPA's decision time.
