I’ve allowed myself one new reel purchase this year.  I really don’t need it but I’m a sucker for buying new reels.  ??‍♂️

ive decided on a tatula elite OR a scorpion mgl.   Anyone that has tried both have any opinion to add to these choices?   Not sure of the purpose for the extra reel, just want to buy a new reel for the year just because...

I am zero help on the Daiwa side of things, but I have owned my fair share of Shimano reels. The Scorpion MGL is an awesome reel. The only thing I would ask, is what you do plan to use it for? The reason I ask is because I would opt for the Curado 70 MGL if you will be using it for soft plastics or with lighter weight lures. If you are cranking with it or using it for spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, etc then I would get the Scorpion. The Curado 70 MGL is better at pitching and flipping in my opinion and the Scorpion is a better reel for long casts. That being said, I haven't used my Curado 70 MGL a lot for casting because I fell in love with it for working a soft plastic.

Good luck with that.  I love baitcast reels and own way more than needed.  Promised myself last year not to buy any more.  Last week I ordered 4 to make up for the dry spell.  :wall1::cry:

Sorry.  Can't help with the comparison.  One of the reels coming is an Elite Longcast, but I have no Scorpion MGL to compare it to.  Should I rectify that?  :lol1:

not sure what I plan to use it for.   Maybe chatterbaits and such.   I don’t really have any dedicated reels.  I just keep buying them to try them out.  LoL.  I have an slx mgl 70 and love that reel.  Only have 2 shimanos and that’s one of them.  All my other reels are daiwa or okuma.   Not sure if I want to add another daiwa because I like what I have so I’ll assume the elite is fantastic.  But The scorpion would be something different.   Guess In comparison of quality and longevity and in general just a blast to use is what I’m loving for.

Too many new reels.  Have to pull the brakes this year.  LoL.  But ask me by June how that went. ?

I have an SLX MGL 70 as well and IMO the Curado is so much better. I can't describe it really. I use them both for light weight pitching and although they are on different sticks, I prefer to use the Curado.

I haven't tried either.  Just wanted to send you my best wishes on your ambitious goal.  We have 11 months to go ?

If your thinking about buying a JDM reel consider the 20 Met

It was a thought.   For the price of a 20 Met.  I got a tat elite and scorpion.  I’m happy with that.

A couple years ago I made the switch to Daiwa.  Half my reels are Tatula Elite's and I couldn't be more please with everything about them.

To add to the mess...........I just bought my first Tatula Zillion...........haven't cast it yet but I'm imagining I'll be happy.

I have a handful of tatulas and love them.  Can’t wait to get this tatula elite out on the water.   I have a zillion HD 1520.   Love that reel.
