It took a lot of courage for him to share his trials with us and soldier on. Blessings to him and his family in this trying time.

At times like this, I'm at a loss. I really don't know what to say.

One thing I can tell you is that his attitude and perseverance made a great impression on me.

I remember in an old post of his about fishing when you reach the other side or something along those lines. I promised to search him down to go with him. I’m hoping they are all big’uns or seem like they are all big'uns over on that side.

I'm sorry to hear this.  My condolences to his family and friends left behind.  He was a big part of this community, and will be missed.  He was such a brave guy with the diagnosis and progression, his outlook was something to look up to.  Rest in power and peace my friend.

There's a place for comments in the obit. Would it be out of line to post a link to the thread?

I always appreciated your insight and perspective @Oregon Native, I and others are better for it. Rest In Peace Gary Yexley....

Do you guys remember a few years ago when his old boat was constantly causing him problems?  He'd try to go out and it wouldn't plane or wouldn't even start and he'd have to go home.  How many times was it in the shop? 10? or more?  He missed a couple tournaments also I believe because of that boat breaking down.  But EVERY SINGLE time he posted about that boat wrecking his fishing time the tone of the post was ALWAYS positive.  He'd say that he was going to get to practice his golf game or spend more time with his family.  I told him once that I was in awe of his ability to maintain his great attitude and I truly meant it.  I am not that kind of person and he was a great example to me.  IMHO I believe that he now has the fastest, quietest, newest bass boat that ever was and he's loaded with gear on his way to his best fishing hole.  Godspeed, my friend.

I'll have to figure it out when I get home from work. Not sure how to do it from the phone.

You can leave a note at least if you go to the funeral home site Glenn posted.

I was wondering... Thanks for posting this Glenn.

I felt O.N was a friend, even though we never met in person. Would loved to have wet a line with him. Loved his comments on fishing , faith , and family!

Prayers to his family ( lifting was the way he said it )

I am sorry to hear of his passing.  My condolences to his family and friends.  Gary seemed to follow the rule, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.". He will be missed.

I didn't know Gary, but I found this out in another thread. Sometimes forums and online communication doesn't accurately represent a person, so no matter how coarse I've ever been, any death of a beloved member of our society, community, or even a forum affects me deeply. I'm late here, but one is never too late to say that they're very sorry for the loss, sorrowful, and our Lord Jesus Christ will forever and always accept every prayer on behalf of another. Gary, I didn't know you, but one day, God willing, I'll see you where we're all meant to be. I pray you're having the time of your life.
