That weird color of soft plastic that surprised you?

I picked up a pack of “Tomato” Zoom trick worms during COVID lockdown last year and I was pretty surprised at how well they turned out on a hook for me. Being completely honest, I only bought them because I thought it sounded like Zoom was running out of ideas of what to call their baits lol even though I know there are ALOT of more unique names out there. I have always had a knack for buying weird colored/shaped baits just to try them out.

Morning dawn. it is basically a combo of purple and pink. Z man calls it twilight.

First time i saw it, I  thought this color will not catch fish. it is now one of my most used colors for trick worms and ned baits.

I don't get the modern urge to give every bait color a name that doesn't describe anything, but I'll add a nod to Z-man's color combos working light really well.

I like the look of that color. Zoom Tricks are one of my favorites for weightless TR’s.

It actually performed the best for me in stained and muddy water.

This one isn’t so weird as many people use it but for me it has to be bubblegum. When it comes to bright/flashy soft plastics I usually stuck with chartreuse or white. But I had some bubblegum TRDs along with the Bubblegut Ticklerz (which are little darker). During the late fall, bubblegum was my hottest color for a ned bait. Seemed like the natural baitfish patterns were working less. I went out and bought some XZone true center sticks in bubblegum to try when the river is high and muddy in the spring. I think it’ll do well rigged weightless just slowly drifting with little twitches.

Sprayed grass stiko. I have caught hundreds of bass on it.

I fish 200 days a year. Use it now 90%of the time at my local muni lake.

I love checking out new/different colors in baits, however I rarely purchase them. I try really hard (and sometimes fail miserably) to limit my colors to dark, light, and natural. I'm in dirty water mostly, and probably wouldn't see a significant difference in fish caught if all I used was black or white, but thats no fun.

To your question, my daughter likes wild colors often using pink. Pink jigs, worms, and crankbaits (I'm still not sure where she found pink cranks). To my surprise, she has little trouble catching fish.

My wife is the same way. She manages to find the one lure that every store manages to sell maybe...three of in a year, looks like something that a pre school child drew in crayons....and will catch the biggest and most fish with it. Every single time.

Coppertruese. I discovered this by accident because it was on sale and it is now my second best fish-catching color (junebug still leads) in stickbaits/worms. Full size on a t-rig or half on a Ned. It’s my skunk beater.

Bright lime green . I've only had a few packs in my life and they never lasted long . The first ones were Fliptails . The others I dont know the brand . That color is hard to find but when I do , I buy them .

Nice post. Every color of the TRD Craws I’ve tried has been productive. Toward the end of the season I picked it up in BubbleGut and with no surprise I caught fish with it. While the Z-Man craws are not my favorite, they are productive. They have a bigger version of them but I have not seen them. Local. I’d like to fish a bigger version.

I had a pre rigged Wonder Worm bright yellow with red spots and caught a 6 lb largemouth on It. It looked like a Easter egg. Ya never know

When I first stared fishing Senkos, I always threw a Texas rigged orange with black flake.  For the life of me I couldn't tell you why I bought that color but it flat out caught fish for me at my local pond. I've gone away from that color to more natural colors like green pumpkin or watermelon.  Probably should look into throwing that orange color again.

For me, it's the Culprit version of "Tomato".  

I found one on the bank years ago, I was fishing an other worm at the time so I pulled it off and stuck the Culprit on.  Caught three bass on it and bought a few bags as soon as I got home.

A club member suggested this color and it works! He said it was his Delta color, but it’s good in a lot of different water. A good bluegill color.

Googan baits has their Mondo Worm in that color and it has produced for me in the past. I’d vote for it!

I like it as it’s versatile. When it’s overcast I hook it so the orange side is down, and when sunny so the green side is down.
