Super User Columbia Craw Posted January 21, 2021 Super User Posted January 21, 2021 Moderate fast for me. I have two rods that I would rate as true moderate, Dobyns 704CB Glass and a Cousins 735 E Glass. I consider my Lamiglas SR 705R as a MF even though it’s an E Glass blank. If anyone has concerns about loosing fish, try a composite. They have a little slower reaction than an all graphite. Quote

Did you find it really good for keeping small trebles pinned? And did you have a Moderate action with which to compare it? Seriously ..........this is starting to get really interesting. jj I wasn't researching glass rods, per se. Just that I thought the glass ones I came across were Fast. This was a while ago and I will be the first to admit my memory isn't what it used to be. I see Phenix's new red and blue glass crankbait rods are Moderate. The 704CB Glass is the only glass rod I have. A fellow member gave me a great deal on it otherwise I wouldn't have it. I picked up a used X10 (composite) which is rated Moderate Fast. Haven't had a reel on it yet. I've been out once with a Gabe’s Rip Rap Special (MHF) and a B-Hittay (MH Mod-Fast). Both composite rods. No fish were caught (what a surprise.....sarcasm). Quote

Alex Ball Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 My cranking line up Spinning Micro/Crappie- Denali Myriad 540 ULM Light CB - Berkley Shock 6' MLMF Squares- Shimano Sojourn 6'6" MF Casting Warts- Denali Kovert 813SB MHMF Mag Warts-Denali Lithium 884FG HMF Just really got into cranking. Now I'm hopelessly addicted to it. LoL. Moderate rods feel way to soft to me. I fish Bull Shoals Lake around Jimmy Creek. It's nothing but timber and rocks. Mod fast lets me pull out of timber and rocks I catch far better. It's all preference. Quote
