Gold Leader: Which one and why?

30lb and 6lb premium Gold Label fluorocarbon leader. How would YOU use it and why?

30lb is almost musky and pike territory.  I would use it with 65lb or 80lb braid and some big baits. 

 

The 6lb would go with 20lb braid for smallmouth and largemouth.  I would use for tubes and weightless 4in senkos. 

 

Trying out the 12lb Gold Label this year for my general purpose bass set up.  We will se how it goes.

I would attach boat to truck with the 30lb and use the 6lb for Ned Rigs.

30# - I could use that as line for my canoe anchor

6# - Neds and Drop-shot to shakey and weightless plastics

Anyone tested this vs blue label at the same diameter? I know it's thinner per rating, but no idea if that actually means stronger, or just more closely rated to the actual breaking strength?

Need to reload on leader in the next few weeks, blue label has worked great, but I'll always take an improvement if there's one there.

it's not as limp as Red or Blue, tougher to roll an Allbright knot and collapse the Gold loop, but it can be done with practice.

I only bought 30-lb Gold for surf leader, and still plan to use Blue for everything lighter.

#6 as leader for #10 Smackdown

#12 for treble hook, 20 lb Smackdown

#15 for single hooks, #30 Smackdown

30# leader to 65# Smackdown braid for my big swimbaits. 

 

6# leader to 20# Smackdown braid for finesse apps.

 

As a side note, I like to match diameters of braid and leader. My knots just seem to work better and are much easier to tie.

The 6# would get a home on a few of my spinning rigs for drop shots, Ned rigs, and split shutting.

 

The 30# likely will get a ride on my inshore saltwater rigs throwing plugs, swim baits and spoons.

The 6# would see a ton of use for drop shots and ned rigs. Blue Label has been my favorite for this application for years now.

 

The only use that I would have for 30# is throwing in places where pike are abundant.
