Super User Jigfishn10 Posted January 18, 2021 Super User Posted January 18, 2021 Anyone ever use them? Seems like one of those I just over looked and I don't see them very often in tackle stores? They look like they would do well in stained water. I made a spinner up over the weekend for some multi species fishing and gotta admit, I would love to see the copper get to that greenish patina stage. Any opinions on copper bladed spinnerbaits? Super User Catt Posted January 18, 2021 Super User Posted January 18, 2021 Work very well in our marshes in both stained & clear water. Add a chartreuse, white, & blue skirt ? 4 1 Quote

Super User scaleface Posted January 18, 2021 Super User Posted January 18, 2021 I use them . After the spawn when the bass have been hammered with spinnerbaits for a couple of months I usually switch to dull skirts and sometimes copper blades . I use the secondary blade in copper a lot . 2 Quote

Thanks for the reminder... 1 Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted January 18, 2021 Super User Posted January 18, 2021 Copper blades are supposed to be good for off-colored water, especially muddy or brownish-stained water. But give them a try in clear water too -- some sunfish species can be sort of coppery-colored. 3 Quote

Catt gets an upvote on this. I've used this combination for many years in the Atchafalaya Basin and the marshes in south Louisiana. 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 20, 2021 Super User Posted January 20, 2021 @riverat A friend of mine Wendell Hoffpauir use to make lures for Cajun Lure & Tackle Co back in the 80s. He made 1/4 spinnerbaits in that combination. Quote
volzfan59 Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 I use big copper Colorado blades in heavily stained water. They produce! 2 Quote
