My trolling motor is brand new and has 7 speeds. For speed 1 and 2 it’s fine but anything above that, my motor lifts up out of the water quite a way and the motor turns off! Any solutions ?

Bow mount or transom mount? I would assume bow mount is what you have.

It's hard to say exactly what's going on exactly however if I were to speculate, I would guess your'e not seating the trolling motor head/upper deploying armature to the base that's connected to the bow of your boat. My fortrex will lift itself out of the water if you don't simply make sure each locking pin on the upper arm makes complete contact with the base and audibly 'locks into place.' More details and pictures could help all of us advise you a bit better. Good luck!

It's probably not mounted so it's square at the front and back and not letting the locking bark engage when down.  If the mounting surface if not perfectly flat, you have to shim under the low points so the motor mount is not being pulled out of square (twisted) when tightened down.

If you get it to lock down, and it's hard to get it to unlock when you pull the cord, you are still out of square.
