Super User scaleface Posted February 15, 2021 Super User Posted February 15, 2021 I had success keeping a fingerling in a 55 gallon aquarium . He was a glutton and ate all the minnows I would put in there . I would buy a dozen minnows that were not that much smaller than it . I got tired of it and wanted to raise various creek minnows instead so released it in a pond . Crappie didnt do well at all . Drum , Channel cats and bullheads thrived . Sunfish were too aggressive . Sturgeons were adapting nicely until the sunfish sucked their eyeballs out . A single crawfish is a cool critter .Two crawfish, one will get eaten. There should be a hiding place for it for a for when it molts . I used a sea shell for a sanctuary .Every time a new fish was introduced , parasites were also added and the aquarium had to be treated .I enjoyed collecting local fish with seines. I plan on making it into a turtle tank next , with an island and waterfall . Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted February 15, 2021 Super User Posted February 15, 2021 Get an Oscar Cichlid instead. A 75 gallon tank will only be a temporary home for a Largemouth Bass. It will eventually outgrow it and you will have to get a bigger tank or release it. Releasing it brings a whole new set of worries for the fish, environment and local law. 2 Quote
