As a lot of you know I upgraded my Terrova to an Ultrex a couple months ago. Now that the Terrova isn't being used I am trying to decide what to do with it. I am wondering if I should sell it while there is still some value in it or if I should just keep it so that I will have a backup if needed. Do some of you guys keep a backup, or what would you do in my shoes? I'm not even sure the best way to go about trying to sell it because I don't want to ship it, but there really is no need in it just collecting dust either.

What say you?

I have a spare Terrova because when I'm north of the border in kinda remote parts of Canada, I want a spare.    I just can't imagine working a shoreline in the 619 w/o a bow mount.

But that's my situation.

I have never needed a spare but I have my old Fortrex sitting in my garage. I really kept it in case I ever buy another boat that it would be an upgrade on.

IMO unless you plan to carry the spare on every trip it isn’t much good. If your tm goes out your day is done and you can get parts in a few days.

Sometimes that might be too long. LOL

Sell it, otherwise it will only collect dust.

Spare TM seems like a great idea. Sometimes they mess up

Sell it - it is not really a spare is it? A true spare swaps out in less than 30 seconds.

Ever try to go from Ultrex to Terrova or any other spare? Don't have the same quick disconnect on the plug and the mounts? Don't even have a quick disconnect? Got plugs on each motor? Oh, dropped that stupid nut into your boat never to be found again?

Going from Terrova to Force this year and I am selling mine - its going to collect dust like all my other replacement trolling motors I just wound up giving away to make room for other crap.

Keep it.

I had a spare Maxxum and I took it with us on a trip several years ago. I had the exact same model on my boat, this was just the old one I'd pulled off when I bought the new one. We were fishing the White River in Arkansas and I hit something hard with the prop apparently and broke the whole armature shaft. I really doubt I'd have been able to find a replacement in the 3 days we had left to fish. Instead we broke out some tools and were back fishing in about a hour.
