Super User FryDog62 Posted January 15, 2021 Super User Posted January 15, 2021 I currently have a Shimano rod that has been backordered at a reputable US online store since October 21... and a Daiwa reel on backorder from another domestic-based online retailer for a month now and still waiting... So when I ordered a JDM reel I thought I better order it now so I get it in time for when our fishing season opens in May. Well, my order arrived all the way from Kobe Japan in 3 days - actually 64 hours from the time it was ordered to be exact! 2 Quote
RichF Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 Did you happen to order it from Asian Portal? I've been pokin around there for some time, waiting for a couple reels to get back in stock. Quote

NJBasstard Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 I don't know how they do it. I've ordered from places a couple states away from me and it sometimes takes 10 days or more. I order reels from Asian Portal and Digitaka and never waited more than 5 days before they're at my door. ? Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted January 15, 2021 Super User Posted January 15, 2021 (edited) My best deliveries from Asian Portal, Japan Tackle, Hedgehog and Plat have each been about 40-50 hours. Fed-Ex flies nonstop now from Shennin-Shi to Memphis. DHL sometimes holds for a day in either Tokyo or Cincinnati - but not always. Plat can be slower getting off the mark, because they normally schedule their outgoing shipping around their incoming parts from Daiwa and Shimano, but if you happen to order on a Friday or Monday, you're in the mix. I paid $150 for my Stradic C1000S from Asian Portal about a year ago - that was when EMS Express Post could get it here in 4 days. A month before that, a C2000SHG (FL1000) for $160. Big Hands Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 I ordered a Fuego LT2500S-XH from a fleabay seller in Croatia on a Friday around noon Pacific time, and it was on my doorstep shortly after noon on Monday. It did cost me $14.99 for their standard shipping, but I was pretty shocked that they could get it to me from 1/3 of the way around the world in that time frame. Consider that it had to be at least 8 PM on Friday evening when they received the order, and it's really impressive, at least to me it is. Quote
Emiliano Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 Good to know that! In these days almost 80% of the products I'm interested in are out of stock in most EU and US online shops. Never ordered from JP but I'll take a look to the ones mentioned. Some of you have experience with kkjapanlure ? I found poor information about it, I think it's a eBay seller Quote
redmeansdistortion Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 Most of the Japanese shops are using DHL and FedEx. I've only had one slow delivery, when my Digitaka order was forwarded from DHL to the USPS. The order got from Japan to Belleville, MI in just a couple of days, then it spent a week and a half in the USPS Package Soccer Championship. It has only happened the one time, so no biggie to me. 1 Quote

Apparently most Japanese online retailers use EMS to ship, but here is the response I received from Digitaka when I ordered from them: "Since the service of Japan post EMS is totally stopped or very unstable now due to covid-19, we will exclusively use FEDEX or DHL now." Dens228 Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 I was about to order a reel from either TW or Tackle Trap, I may have to check prices on the sites listed in this thread. Quote
BayouSlide Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 FWIW, I ordered a Daiwa SV TW 103HS from Tackle Warehouse on 1/12: site said it was in stock. Received an email that the order was being processed and wasn't scheduled to ship until 1/19. Definitely the slowest order fulfillment I've had from Tackle Warehouse thus far, even in the midst of COVID. Very disappointing. Quote
Super User ATA Posted January 16, 2021 Super User Posted January 16, 2021 Yeah TW got slow since sales, that’s why I never order to them till yesterday I gave it a try again, let’s see how they do this time. Quote
Super User ATA Posted January 16, 2021 Super User Posted January 16, 2021 Ok I just mad e a. Call and talk to a Sam, I ask Ed him about this delays and what would be resonate behind the delays, he said they are so many things effecting the shipping speed such as they are short handed and amount of orders or they need to contact dispatch so many times for USPS, UPS, GLDEN STATE. But the good news is they are trying to reaching out and they are close to get the point to do deliveries normal and process them next day. as you know guys TW really good website and giving best service always and process fast, so hopefully we can see them handle this ASAP ?. Emiliano Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 I received my order (MB cranks and jerkbaits) today from JLS via FedEx, it took only 5 days to Spain. Great service + two 1/2oz OSP blade baits as Gift! Awesome Quote
Corey T Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 Do JDM retailers typically provide tracking information or do they just show up one day? I purchased a Daiwa Alphas Air TW yesterday (PayPal) and have not received any tracking information. I probably just need to be more patient. Quote

Just shows up 3 days later. Not sure about others 1 Quote

I went through Digitaka. Would be nice to receive something that first time you buy something in yen. might give me a hint of peace of mind and feel a little less sketchy. lol ? 1 Quote

I thought it was weird but it had the tracking and EMS/Japan Post shipping info for my purchase. Another thing to consider, is their holidays (two big ones in Feb.) and that some but not all businesses are closed on Monday and the postoffice is closed on Saturday and Sunday. 1 Quote
CFDoc Posted February 14, 2021 Posted February 14, 2021 I’m waiting on an Asian portal order right now. They sent me a FedEx tracking number and everything. ?♂️ 1 Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted February 14, 2021 Super User Posted February 14, 2021 Asian Portal used to send e-mails for everything. My thought, the current AP e-mail dearth is a staffing skills issue - no one shows up for work who can handle the English. With a log-in, you can check your order status, and you can also rely on your paypal and Fed-Ex communication links for payment and shipping results. Quote
