Luke Barnes Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 This is either the most genius idea or the most crazy. Either way I like it!!! Ive never thought about it and as long as you dont snag the bed to me its two presentations at once. Even if not worked in a traditional ned or dropshot retrieve. Very cool idea! 1 Quote
Big Swimbait Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 I have not tried a Ned Rig but I have definitely used a 1/8 oz finesse jig. Best results were when I used a craw as the DS bait on a 12" drop. As stated above I broke off a lot as this rig will get a few doubles. So now I throw it on straight 20# braid or not at all. Quote

From the sound of it alot of people have breaks at the Palomar for the DS hook. I use VMC Spinshots so you tie to the top and bottom loop and hook swivels freely so wonder if this would help. 2 Quote

Many skippers would fish a Christmas tree rig for mackerel, using a diamond jig as a sinker (blues, stripers & weakfish). As it happens, I don’t fish any two lures exactly the same, so for me at least, it would create an excruciating cultural bias ? Roger Love catching cod fishing while fishing for mackerel on those rigs! I always use a metal jig on the bottom Quote
Super User scaleface Posted January 22, 2021 Super User Posted January 22, 2021 Heres another nutty idea that I think would work .I'm going to try it Use a cheap crappie jig head as the weight for a Neko rig. Just clip the hook off where it exits the worm . Quote
BigAngus752 Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 The “Ned Drop Shot” is interesting. At what point does it become a trot line? I mean in legal terms? Is it never a trot because it remains in your hand? Quote

Rig the main hook weedless like a chicken rig and have the crappie jig hook exposed. 1 Quote
zeth Posted January 23, 2021 Posted January 23, 2021 Here in the PNW this is a good winter technique for deep smallmouth. We use football jigs though. 1 Quote
