I'm about to grab one or the other and I'm pretty undecided on which to get.  I've got my eye on both 7'3" Medium Heavy Fast models.

Which'un?

The Rebellions rods are very tough to get opinions on. I do not have the rod you mention, but I have a 6 10 MH and 7 M glass. I have not fished them yet, so I cant add much here either. They are very light, I will say that.

Well, thanks for the input, @RTipton.  I think I might get the 7'3" today and give it a good workout.  I'm hoping to use it for Texas rigs and jigs.

If you ask me, you should get the Rebellion just to become the forum's beta tester. I have no experience with them myself, and I've heard very little but it's kind of weird as they are priced right around the Tatula Elite non AGS price point.

Fine.  I bought it.  I'll be the go-to man on the Rebellion since Daiwa has seemingly sold 3 and all of them are owned by folks in this thread.

I’m looking forward to hearing some opinions on these rods as I’m hoping to save up and find a spring sale on the 6’-10” myself.  Just my opinion but it seems Daiwa isn’t advertising/promoting these rods the way they do/have others. For example as the thread on here about pros and their gear, although I don’t necessarily follow a lot of tournament fishing I watch enough to know most of the names and see their jerseys and know some of the rods they endorse/use. I do however enjoy fishing shows this time of season and haven’t noticed anybody using these rods this year or on last year’s shows, most notably Mark Zona who seemed to switch to Lews from Daiwa without really talking about the products as he did last year,at least in the first 4 episodes I’ve watched.

I feel like the rebellion rods are daiwas shot at the zodias. They look and feel like great rods. Let's be honest, its daiwa so I'm sure its a fantastic rod for its price point. I just cannot get use to the silver tatula elite rods.

I own the 6'9" Tatula Elite Heavy and I love the rod, but I'm also not the biggest fan of the silver.

Imagine a nice gun metal grey instead to match the tatula elite reels?!?! d**n

Silver all day!  Would look better than gold!  You just gotta think classy.

Good for you. I think they a fine rod, but I just cant offer much without fishing them. I bought a couple of the Kage's (7 3 MH), too, but havent fished them either. If I can ever find time to get on the water, I hope I can provide some input.

Man you nailed it. I called, messaged and visited several shops and very, very few of them could adequately describe the differences in these rods. I just gave up and decided to take a gamble and buy them.

The guys at The Tackle Trap are awesome.  If they sell it, they know it inside and out.  I've had several conversations about Megabass, Daiwa and St. Croix with them and they have been spot on with their recommendations each time.  Bryan (the reel repair/tuning guy and local pro tournament angler) even took time out of his day to go through his personal rods and the rods in the shop to find a rod that would do what I needed.  Gary is always great as well.  They take the time to give you the info you need to make a good decision and will make recommendations but I've never felt pressured to buy the most expensive option.  Matter of fact, Gary and Bryan have offered me lower priced options when I asked about much more expensive rods or reels.

I have the rebellion ml spinning rod. I like it. Using it as a Ned rig rod. More sensitive than my cashion elite ml which is a nice rod. I have one heavy Diawa tatula elite orimoro (sp?) baitcaster rod that I use for jigs. Can’t really directly compare that to my rebellion rod but the rebellion is nicer. Probably 20-50$ more price wise. I’d buy another rebellion if I needed another rod and they were on sale. Most of my rods are cashion elites which I think are nice but rebellion is better balanced, lighter and seems higher quality.  The tatula I have seems comparable to the cashions except it balances better. Not sure if I would buy another tatula rod. I kinda like the cashions better.

Way to take one for the team! I look forward to hearing about it.

I don't have the Rebellion casting rod but I do have the Rebellion in spinning and compared to my Tatula spinning the same size it feels like a Sheman tank. I don't mean its heavy it just feels like its tough as nails so to speak, and  good sensitvity.

Are you only open to the Tatula elite? U less you really want the high end guides on the more expensive version, the, the regular Tutala is a great rod. I held both in the store and didn't think the Elite warranted the extra few bucks.

Never tried the Rebellion as they didn't have any there.

And this is why I scoured and found a Cronos for the Alphas SV TW I just bought. Just too much silver and I wasn't sure of the Rebellion line as there is little feedback on it. Though it seems to me the Rebellion is like a reboot of the Cronos, which means it should be an amazing rod.

Just bought the 6'10" MH-R 2 piece casting, paired with a Curado MGL 70.

Too early to go fishing in my parts so no real review per say. But it's very light weight. Interesting blank, it feels a little stiffer/faster action than the regular action (moderate fast) would suggest. However, when I tested the rod under load it is a moderate fast action (Regular action in Daiwa terms I guess) with a good bit of power in the butt section.

Cast and pitched with a 1/4 and 1/2oz casting plug just to play with it and seemed to handle it well. Sensitive enough to feel the plug dragged across a smooth floor. So it should be decent on the water, time will tell.

Nice shorter handle, the Eva foam while not my favourite material is nicely done and offers a good grip. The reel seat is comfortable from various hand positions. The locking nut isn't sharp and lines up nicely where you finger would rest of palming the reel. The color is orange, not gold. Looks like a very nice rod with nice details.

Picked up for a decent price here in Canada.
