Hello everyone.

My wife and I don't hunt, but live out in the woods and see lots of wildlife. We have been kind of wondering about all the wildlife we don't see, and thought of getting a trail cam to show us all the critters we might be missing.

As we are somewhat" tech" challenged we were thinking of a trail cam that uses a card, maybe one that will take a pic every 2-3 sec. as long as there is movement.

Do you use or would recommend a not to pricy camera that would fit the bill for us? Or any one or kind to stay away from?

                            Thanks

Trail cams, like many other items, have come a LOOOONG way in just a few years time. When I first started running them an 8 mp cam with video might run you $300, now you can get a 30 mp with video and cellular for $120. Sounds like you would be fine getting a cam that would accept cards so you could just swap the card out and look at them on your PC. No need for the cellular option That being said, the new cameras with cellular capabilities are less than just regular cams of years past. I have used the Moultrie brand the most and they work fine for just taking pics to see what is visiting. The main thing I think you would want to ask yourself is if you are going to run disposable batteries, rechargeable batteries or use a solar panel to run the unit. Most cameras will be user friendly and you can set them up to take a pic every few seconds, minutes or whatever you desire. It can become a pretty neat hobby. Sometimes I set mine up in the back yard to see what ventures through at night. One of the biggest bucks I have ever had on cam came through one night and he was about 20' from the house.

Seeing your from Maine you will probably have the same issue as I do here in Pa. "Bears" I can't tell you how many they have tore down off of trees. I now use a bear proof set up and no more issues. You can get them at most places that sell the cameras.

Thank you for the replies and info. We are taking a hard look at Moultrie brand cameras.

I only have used the Campark t70 so dont have anything to compare it  to . I will say nothing gets by it . The false positives are usually a bird flying by . It takes good night photos and videos . After ten months the night shots quit working , which seems to be common with trail cams but they sent me a new one . In the winter it needs lithium batteries if taking videos because the voltage drops with alkaline and the vids will be short . Warmer months alkaline work fine .It cost 60 dollars and only available on Amazon . . I switch the sd card out weekly .
