It's not quite so bad as this, but I have to admit you aren't hatefully far off...deep winter through spawn gives you a reasonable chance at sticking a big fish, *IF* you can locate one...this does not apply the same in the frozen north as it does in other parts of the nation

Well it's winter here in northern Illinois.......I'm stuck reorganizing my tackle about 100 times until Mid to late March.

I follow several YouTube anglers, mostly tuning in during winter. Almost all of them talk about late fall when it's Christmas time and how early spring is upon us in January. It always cracks me up. Admitting that it's winter and the fishing won't be comfortable, productive, or practical (with some exceptions based on location) isn't something many of them are willing to do.

Your winter doesn't count...its the type of weather I have half of my open water season.

For instance your average temp for January is 40..mine is 18. Coldest temp ever where you are is -32...last winter we had 4 days straight of -40 to -45 wind chill. Last but not least you average 6 inches of snow a year...we've had 3 snowfalls this year of that much...our average is 33 inches a year!

Sorry for the rant...cabin fever kicking in.

I thought this thread was going to be about how  78° and sunny is worse than 50° and 90% chance of afternoon showers.

I don’t allow weather to determine my comfort level. I’ve got sunscreen just like I’ve got thermals

everyone’s favorite season is the one with the most big bass

My favorite bass season is from when the ice melts and I can get on the water until the water freezes over and I can't get on the water.

Amen brother . My two favorite times to fish are when it’s raining and when it’s not raining......

On my weather channel there's two seasons. Hunting season and Fishing season with occasional combo of both..

Our weatherman has had a big miss the past 4 days in a row. It’s getting comical . I think bass fishermen would actually do better than a professional meteorologist

My favorite season is prespawn for just that reason. I caught 4 largemouth 6lbs or better last year...3 of them between April 5th and May 20th.

This very topic is what brought me here to learn about fishing.  Our ponds and lakes are starting to freeze but the Connecticut River is still moving.  Most places I've ventured to learn about "winter" fishing always shows advice for Texas or Florida which just doesn't hold true here in New England.

The best two hours of bass fishing I ever had was in the middle of a thunderstorm with lightning strikes all around me.  Stupid?  You bet, but I felt like that priest in Caddyshack having the game of his life in a lightning storm......no way I was going in.
