mike304 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Ranger 521VX 2005 Comanche Bass Boat, Trailer Included, Price 5500 USD, Mercury Optimax 250XS, 21.0 feet $5500 For pictures contact pkrame2@gmail.com, (615) 692 1756. (ad id: 3519929) I saw this add for this boat in my local paper and I thought it was a typo. I e-mailed the guy and asked and he confirmed that it was the right price. I did a search and came up with the link below that has one pic. Problem for me is, its in AZ and I live in NY(I don't really have the money right now either ). I just e-mailed him again to ask why so little. He hasn't gotten back to me yet. He has adds for it in a lot of papers all over, so I'm assuming he really needs the money, its stolen, or its some kind of scam. If not its one hell of a deal. Check the link below and the add and the one pic are about 3/4 of the way down the page. http://apps.aspentimes.com/classifieds/?class=tran Does anyone live near Avondale , Arizona who can check this out. DINK WHISPERER Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 WOW, i would definitely find a way to get a loan or something man! Do you know how much those Comanches are worth!?! Quote
Super User cart7t Posted June 21, 2009 Super User Posted June 21, 2009 I would definitely get that loan and then send the money to me. You'll have just as much chance of getting that boat out of me as you would that seller. SCAM. Â Happening quite a lot these days and Ranger is the usual boat of choice. Quote
soccplayer07 Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 SCAM!!! I just bought an 86' ranger 370v for d**n near the same price. complete scam. Rangers hold their value. Quote

Super User South FLA Posted June 21, 2009 Super User Posted June 21, 2009 This is a known scam that ran through Craigslist. Quote
Super User Way2slow Posted June 21, 2009 Super User Posted June 21, 2009 Email them back and say it's too good of a deal the let get away and you want the boat. Â You have a relative that lives in AZ that will bring the money and make the deal. Â They will either not replay or have an excuse that's it's either in storage or somewhere else right now. Â They will have an excuse why the deal can't be made on the spot. Â Total SCAM! Quote
mike304 Posted June 21, 2009 Author Posted June 21, 2009 I e-mailed the guy 2 days ago asking why so little and could he send me the Pics. haven't heard a peep. Just for the record, I actually had no intention of buying the boat. I saw the add and thought "thats too good to be true" and figured I'd look into it. Quote
simplejoe Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 yeah, definitely scam the motor is worth more than that. Quote

If you want to buy the boat, get back to me and I'll tell you how it works. He still hasn't answered my question as to why he is asking such a low price. I e-mailed him such. this is getting interesting. It actually looks like a nice boat. Quote
tillerybass Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 He has a picture of the serial number or something. Can you search it to find more information on the boat? This thing should be valued at least $30k. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted June 22, 2009 Super User Posted June 22, 2009 IF that was my boat and everything was legit I could pull it up the street to the Wal-mart parking lot and have it sold in 30 minutes or less at that price. and why the third party payment method? Â You mean if I wanted to walk up, hand him $5500 dollars cash in exhange for the boat and CLEAN titles he wouldn't be interested? RED FLAGS!!! Â Quote
BigBassGuy Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Did a quick Google search of the VIN number and came across this website out of Tempe AZ. Its saying SOLD and is using the same exact pictures pictures they sent you. http://www.desertautoplex.com/cgi-bin/showroom.cgi?mode=show&id=325686&d_id=1080 :oRED FLAG!!! RED FLAG!!!! Quote
BigBassGuy Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Also just found the Ebay listing from April where it sold for $25,000 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_rdc=1&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp3907.m38.l1313%26_nkw%3D170322558372%2B%2B%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&item=170322558372&viewitem= Quote
Fishing Cowgirl Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Ditto! they copy and paste the info from e-bay listing, stick a ridiculously low price on it, and then get the money third party.. big time scam. they use this on everything from equipment to livestock websites selling high dollar horses they don't own. Quote
boomer68 Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I did a google search for this boat,(2005 RANGER 521VX Comanche Bass Boat, was the search) because like all you this is too good to be true. Â The same ad, email, phone was posted in newspapers from Montary, CA to Orlando, FL. Â This is got to be a scam.. Run away quick Quote
mike304 Posted June 22, 2009 Author Posted June 22, 2009 like I said, I had no intention of buying it. I'm wondering now if someone could be contacted and try to snag this guy. Quote
lunka4me Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I found a similar situation on eBay. Where there was a great deal, buy it now deal on a boat, it was in a third party place, a shipping company, they gave a tracking number and it showed it was there. The guy faxed me a "copy" of the title. He said he was recently assigned to work in Hawaii and is storing the boat in the shipping company. Things just didn't sound right. Come to find out the same boat was posted a month later, I emailed again and it was a different story with a completely different title, from another state. I reported it to eBay but there was nothing really they could do. Quote
mike304 Posted June 23, 2009 Author Posted June 23, 2009 this is the most recent reply. He finally answered why he is selling it so low: I'm not a fisherman and I can't even swim, I don't need the boat if my brother can't use it. My brother fell off a horse and got paralyzed, he loves fishing and I can't imagine how much he will suffer not being able to fish for the rest of his life. When I bought this boat for my brother, I paid $5500 because I bought it from a rich friend of mine... it was more like a gift... he knew I don't have enough money to pay the price for it.. That's why I want to sell it for $5500 it will not be fair to sell it for more! Besides, we decided to make someone happy as we were when we bought it! I'm not stupid and I know the price on the market is higher. I've already made a couple of calls to people I know, and I'm going to make more tomorrow. I'm going after this guy. More to follow. Quote
basscat73 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Good luck going after him. He's not even in the USA. He's untraceable for the most part, and these types of ads are extremely common. Surprised you haven't seen one before. Very common to see this scam for boats and especially vehicles. I could probably find an ad right now 2008 Toyota 4-Runner with 32K for $4,500. Quote
south1234 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Hey Guys--I came across this forum after my husband thought he had found the "deal of a lifetime" while I kept telling him it was a scam! We have corresponded with Mr. Kramer and here's the latest email we've received from him-- "Here are the transaction steps: Buyer and Seller Agree to Terms, Both parties agree to terms of the transaction, which includes a description of the merchandise, sale price, number of days for the Buyer's inspection ( 3 days ). Buyer Pays: The Buyer submits a payment proof. Yahoo! Finance verifies the payment.Seller Ships Merchandise Upon payment verification, the Seller is authorized to ship merchandise and submit tracking information. Yahoo! Finance verifies that the Buyer receives the shipment. Buyer Accepts the merchandise The Buyer has a set number of days for an inspection and the option to accept or reject the merchandise. (in this case 3 days)Yahoo! Finance Pays the Seller If this is ok with you please reply with your complete name, address and shipping address in your next email and let me know if you are interested in knowing more details about this purchase so that I can open a transaction case at Yahoo! Finance and move forward with this deal. You will also need to make a free Yahoo! e-mail account in order to receive the invoice." "What's the HIN?" (I had asked for the HIN for the boat.) My husband thinks that if Yahoo Finance is involved that he would not lose his money--I think differently. We replied that my husband would travel to Arizona to see and try out the boat and make the transaction in person if everything was as stated in the email. What do you think the chances are that he'll reply???? South Quote
Super User cart7t Posted July 1, 2009 Super User Posted July 1, 2009 He won't. Â Like I said. Â You could sell that boat at that price on just about any street corner in the US in less than an hour. Â A deal that good isn't a deal, it's a scam. Â Quote
George Welcome Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Hints to scam in addition to ridiculous price: 3rd party e-mail addy: pkrame2@gmail.com Yahoo finance is a stock brokerage company, Quote
Ellesar Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Yahoo finance isn't going to be involved. It might look like they are. There were some paypal scams that did the same sort of thing. The web sites looked like paypal but they were spoofs. Quite a few people fell for it and believed that everything would be ok because paypal was involved. Quote
