Biglittle8 Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 (edited) So I decided to go throw a couple of casts this morning after telling myself I was going to take the day off. I went to one of the ponds on our golf course that I fish regularly, threw a silver shad Rattle-Trap and bam! I hit a big fish! It was taking drag on my tightly set Garcia. I was already thinking about all of the endorsements I was going to get? I finally horsed it in close enough to take a look at it...I had foul hooked a good size fish in the chest! A brute if hooked in the mouth... A MONSTER if hooked in the chest! I weighed and measured it... 20" 4lbs 15ozs. Tried to add a photo... Too big... I'll keep trying. Edited January 10, 2021 by Biglittle8 Add photo after much trial and error. 6 Quote

Super User islandbass Posted January 10, 2021 Super User Posted January 10, 2021 Would love to see it to help get through the winter doldrums. You can reduce it at post images.org, even from your phone. Quote

Super User Koz Posted January 10, 2021 Super User Posted January 10, 2021 Ironic. Fishing has been just awful here lately but I went out for a few hours today anyway. The only thing I caught was a bass that I accidentally snagged. Like you, mine felt heavy and then I saw it coming in sideways and belly side up. Quote

Super User dodgeguy Posted January 10, 2021 Super User Posted January 10, 2021 Good fish. You should try to keep them off the ground so the slime coat stays intact. Did you weigh it ? How long is it ? Looks to be around 24 inches which makes it around 8 lbs. If the front of your reel is approx 17 inches that's a big girl. Quote

In my neck of the woods, fishing for bass in winter from the shore has been practically a zero chance game that I usually target other species like salmon this time of year. Maybe I’ll get my first winter bass this season. 1 Quote

Yeah, Summer/Winter are super low probability endeavors out on the Columbia River for a shore guy, you get maybe an hour if your lucky during the worst of them up near the shore, morning for summer, evening for winter, and you better have whatever they want because you aren't getting a second chance that day, still, it provides a couple of opportunities for gear maintenance and such that help me make the very most of the other 250ish days a year, so it's not all bad. 1 Quote
