I'm guessing it means you have a point total that is the 4th best, along with several other people with the same number of points, but applying the tiebreakers puts you at 9th.

EDIT: actually, now that I look at it, it does give you a different ranking for the event vs. overall, but they should be identical given there is only one event so far.  So I'm not sure anymore. But you should still be eligible for one of the prizes.

For both the Tournament and Season prizes, the tiebreakers will be:

  • Tiebreaker #1: Closest to total weight of submitted fish for the official weigh-in by the winning angler, in pounds and ounces.
  • Tiebreaker #2: Highest total number of fish submitted for the official weigh-in by the anglers selected in the entrant’s roster.
  • Tiebreaker #3: Highest total weight of submitted fish for the official weigh-in by the anglers selected in the entrant’s roster.
  • Tiebreaker #4: The entrant whose date of entry creation was recorded in the system the earliest

For the record, I did pick some tournaments last year, just not in groups. Don’t want anyone digging into my sordid past and accusing me of being a cheat ?. I was confused on how points were assessed since people talk about picking lower percentage anglers over higher percentage anglers for a better score. But after this round it doesn’t appear to make any difference in point standings, just a gamble on beating the players by picking a ‘dark horse’ who pulls off an upset. As usual, I overthunk it.

It looks as if tiebreaker #1 affected this tournament but not the overall league standing. If that was the case I should be #4 in league as well. Maybe they input all the tiebreakers into the machine for a result.

I have a feeling your going to ride Feider all year . I picked him a couple of times last year and it paid off . He catches them everywhere .

He's one of two 'home town boys', Austin Felix being the other. Of course I'm gonna show Minnesota pride - Seth's won it before, he's done good things in most of his tournaments.

No matter what - I'm gonna be loyal to Seth all season.

Austin may show up a time or two, just to give a Minnesota boost.

Seth's home of New Market is 30 miles as the crow flies from me and one of his favorite lakes when he's not on the road is Minnetonka.

Austin's home of Eden Prairie is only 11 miles away.

The guy who won it all last year said he rode his line up through the whole season. Sure would be less work that way.

Feider has proven he can compete anywhere. Picking him every time couldn't be worse than most other strategies people come up with.  Honestly, I'm not so sure picking randomly would be worse than most strategies...

I tend to think the only "bad" picks are where you choose somebody whose ownership for an event is way too high because they won there once (and that is not always guaranteed to be bad either...).

I used to think of this as the "Chris Lane Effect" when he was fishing in BASS. A bunch of prior wins and a Classic champ, but if you looked closely at his record, you'd see he was really inconsistent event-to-event, boom or bust. If you wanted a Lane brother, Bobby was much more reliable and better ranked on average.  But Chris' ownership would often be higher than Bobby's, even when they were in the same bucket.

Heh, I remember that.  Ish was a little like that too. Ike, on the other hand, I always thought was more reliable than his reputation.

In 2015, Seth Feider was really close to quitting the elites. He had tapped out almost all of his personal funding and wasn’t competitive. By his own words he had admitted this.

It was the second to last event of the season at LaCrosse. The AOY was at Mille Lacs and he needed a top 5 finish to be eligible to fish his “home waters.” He came in third place in LaCrosse and qualified for Mille Lacs. He destroyed everyone in that event with over 75 pounds of brown bass in 3 days. Basically a 5+ pound average for smallmouth which is quite ridiculous.

He said that those 2 events in a one month span were the turning point in his career. He has done very well every year since too.

hey @12poundbass, where's your fantasy team?

After the mass exodus I haven’t participated. I pondered it this year but never got around to it. When it was just BASS I followed the tournament trail pretty regularly but since then I’ve kind of fallen off the scene and don’t pay as much attention as I did before of either trail. I watch a little of the live coverage. Maybe next year. ?

Somebody really needs to help MondoLikesFishing and lds922.  They really do not seem to know what the heck they are doing.

Lol yea I was also like 99.9% ranked overall too - Not saying I'm some mastermind though, I freely admit it's mostly luck.

For St Johns, there was a glitch or technical error because I had no angler selected for bucket C - I double and triple checked it before the event started.  Didn't notice til after the event started and one of my buddies in another group ribbed me about screwing up.  Sent BASS an email but I'm resigned to the fact that I'm just out of luck and my overall season is tanked for it.  It is what it is, it's a free service so can't complain too much.

Let's just say I was giving you guys a head start this year to keep it interesting ;):D

Not all is lost. There's still a chance to win the prize packages for the events. I heard the TW ones were pretty generous

Edit: I thought TW gave prizes to the winner of each event but it seems like I got that wrong :(
