I think a lot of players are selected based simply on their name and popularity.

I have my own strategy. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. No doubt a bit of luck involved too.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Feider finish strong.

At the moment you're the top scorer in our group by almost 150 points, and sitting at the rank of 10th overall.  Things will change tomorrow of course, but looks like you have a good shot at winning a prize package, which are given for the top 20 in each event...

I just now noticed this in the overall standings. Nicely done Willie.

There are 8 other people with the exact same score as you though - 1153 points.

Whatever strategy you thought you were using when you made your picks, it seems to have worked!

I just noticed WillieP99 on the Fantasy fishing and was going to post the same thing.  10th place out of 35,000 people is incredible, especially being it is his first time.

I do have one question however.  How was he able to make a lineup and submit it when he posted today at 7:45 ET, after the end of the 3rd round, that he was going to "give it a shot"?  Don't all of the lineups have to be submitted before the tournament starts?

I overthink things and it usually bites me in the ***. I always try selecting at least 2 guys with low ownership percentages in hopes of getting a big lead on everyone else. I thought I had a steal in Destin Demarion this tournament as he was only owned by 1.31% of participants . He’s a PA native but actually guides on the SJR. He ended up finishing 92nd. Meaning 99% of people did better than me in that bucket.

My understanding is that you do have to submit lineups before the start of the tournament. I’ve forgotten to make picks on an event before and it locked me out until it was over.

Reminds me of your theory from last season that something fishy was going on with the  fantasy fishing.

Edit: that pun was totally not intentional

He probably had a line up already - he just 'finally' joined the BR group.

I’m in, don’t understand all the strategery involved but I’ll give it a shot

His post doesn’t technically indicate he made his picks when he posted this. I’m sure he did them before this point. If not, then Houston we have a problem.

Well, it's either Seth or Austin as they're the only two MN guys in this shin-dig.

Willie, out of curiosity, when did you submit your lineup to the B.A.S.S. website?

If today, had you already had a Fantasy account before that or did you create that today?

Congratulations again, great score.

I made my picks a week and a half ago or so. I never knew there were groups until yesterday. Don’t worry, the trend won’t last.

I didn’t realize they gave out weekly prizes. I thought it was and end of the year awards only.

Ya - within this group, it's just for bragging rights.

My apologies, I didn’t mean this group. Just the overall awards from Rapala if I’m reading it right. Probably won’t matter anyway after tomorrow. I need Hackneys fish to move off beds.

There's a few others that ARE giving out prizes - TW and Dobyns to name a couple.

Mmm, ok. Thanks for letting me know. Just signed up for a number of groups. Can’t hurt to try.

79. 10.

You're probably going to be closer than me. When I saw the forecast, I dropped my weight...the top 3 have gone past that.

I never considered the weather or other factors. I feel so far out of place in southern fisheries it’s not in my comfort zone. Granted, I understand the factors involved, but I’m not used to lake or river systems that are so big that something like the weather affects various locations so differently. Take the St. John’s system, bass are in all all phases of the spawn there and since it is far more shallow than I fish, bass could be anywhere given the day. I guess that favors some anglers if they hit the location that has patterns that best fit their strengths. Take Hackney today, flipping Cypress trees for him is well...

Final points are in -- assuming the rankings on BASS already have tiebreakers figured in, @Williep99 should be getting a 3rd prize $100 Rapala package for a 9th place, 1424 point finish!

Congrats!

Thank you. I don’t fully understand the final tally with players tied with points. Thought it was determined by the players closest to the winners total weight but I was mistaken. I was off 3 oz.. Anyway, this was likely my best hurrah in picking for the remainder of my days. Now gotta try the Tennessee River picks.

First ever attempt at this and he finishes 9th out of over 35,000 participants.

It will be interesting to see where you go from here Willie. Not much room to improve...

Ok, there are 2 ranking systems. I took 4th in the St. John’s tournament and 9 in the overall league standings. Don’t understand it at all. My weight guess was the closest but that must not factor into the overall league score. So confusing... and I doubt I will improve.
