Red Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 i have the 8' model, i like it, works great, very stable and i can stand in it easily. however the sleightest breeze will blow you around badly. i had mine out on lake waco a couple weeks ago in like 20mph hour winds, i wouldnt recommend this!! first two speed setting were not strong enough to go forward and when the waves hit just the right way they smashed over the front and i was taking on water!! stick to calm days and smaller waters and you will be fine. Triton21 Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 I fish a 10 footer when fishing my pond. Works well for me. Kelley Quote
Sfritr Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 I had a 10 foot pond Prowler with a 40lb motor guide. I LOVED that boat. Wish I had never sold it. I could get into places you wouldn't dream of getting a regular boat into, small ponds, creeks, rivers etc. Heck, I even took it out on larger lakes and hung close to shore. It fit perfectly into the bed of my truck for quick fishing getaways. you won't be sorry Quote
driftingrz Posted June 28, 2009 Author Posted June 28, 2009 thanks guys. sounds like itll do me good. luckily the new resevoir i plan on fishing alot allows no gas motors. so i wont be worrying about people wakeboarding, jet skis or anything else. just other fishermen trolling around. Quote
buzzcatcher Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I have the 8' and it fits in my Chevy Astro van perfectly. Took an old trolling motor mount and rigged wheels up to it. It stays in the van fully loaded and ready to go. I pull up to my usual parking spot at my local resevoir, open the back doors, slide it out and down on the wheels and roll it to the water. I'm fishing with in 3-4 minutes. Life is Good! David Quote
EastMarkME Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 They work well for smaller ponds. The other thing to consider for smaller ponds is the inflatable belly boats. (tubes) The type you wear chest waders and flippers and go solo. They are alot of fun and much more effective than shore fishing IMO. Ive caught some nice fish in mine. You get a great angle for tossing worms under branches and docks BTW. Mark Quote
driftingrz Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 well picked it up today. happy as can be. gotta go pick up the other seat from his house. (boat was at his uncles) but spent the day cleaning it. fiberglassing cracks. etc. nearly ready for water now. just registered it online. so far the only money spent was $14.99 for fiberglass resin. i also got a free troller motor from the warehouse my dad works in. his boss took it off his old bass boat and its been sitting (rich fookers) its a 56lb Thrust i saw the same troller in 40lb version today at walmart for $475 so picking this one up for free.... i think i got a good deal hahaha. had to take apart the huge deck mount that was on it. and customize it a lil. got a few pictures. so im quite happy as ive only bought resin and registration. now i just need to invest in a battery charger and a few more bolts for the mount we rigged up and im Set for the water had about 4 years of dirt, spiders and snails embedded onto the boat almost finished Quote
Peter E. Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 enjoy. I caught more fish in a 12 foot jon boat than most folks have a right too. You're going to enjoy it. Next get yourself a kayak. Quote
